Jap-Thai: Jap-Thai: Jujang @2pmalways | Thai-Eng: Muize @2pmalways | Scans by Junsu.kr
2PM is completely in Japan market nowwith [01:59 PM], a successful album in Korea, in Japanese Special Edition. They’re recognized by their outstanding image. Nowadays, K-pop is playing a big role in Japan music industry. How are they feeling? We have flown to Korean to get to know them
- [01:59PM ~ Japanese Special Edition] which has been set to be a pilot for your debutis already released. How does the album mean to you?
TY: It’s our 1st original album. It shows our manliness and the beauty of beast idols perfectly. Beast idols started from that. Its meaning completes us
- Yeah, I can feel all-out possibilities 2PM can make through those songs
TY: There’re various styles in the album such [Heartbeat] which presents men’s strength while [All Night Long] and [Back 2 U] shows our soft side. A mixture of those things can be seen in [Tired of waiting]
JH: 2PM tries to put music together to make a difference from ordinary dance groups
WY: It’s important to show variously while remaining main style which is our performance. We always say “How about this style?”. I think it’s what fans feel as well that’s why they love our music
- In Japanese edition, there’s a bonus track called [Thank You]. I heard that the song means so much to you guys
Junsu: Yes, it’s specially made for our fans. We realize that the reason why we’re still working is that fans love us so we made this song to thank them. The 1st time we sang it was the encore of our 1st concert in Seoul. We really committed ourselves to the song
- Having included such important song to Japanese edition means you’re trying to send this message to Japanese fans too?
JH: (In japanese) definitely!
JS: We’ve receiving supports from Japanese fans even before debut in Japan that’s why we are able to make a debut. So we want to say thank you to them
JH: We’ve been dreaming of debut in Japan and during the preparation period, we were in deep surprise to find out how much people paid us attentions before debut. We’re very grateful so we made [Thank You]
- Surely, your message will reach them. What’s your favorite song then?
TY: (In japanese) I like [All night long] very much because it’skinda lewd (laughs) hmm (gives up and talk in korean instead) When we were recording the song, to convey that feeling, we had to use our imaginary (laughs). It’s still left in my memory
NK: For me [Thank You]. As I said earlier, the 1st time we sang it was the encore of our 1st concert and fans sang along with us. Later they changed the lyrics and made [You are welcome] in correspondence. We were so impressed that we cried
WY: I like [Only You]. During the recording, I got scolded many times from Park Jin Young since I couldn’t sing as he wanted. I cried real hard. Members tried to console me by asking me to have an ice-cream.It’s a memorable song. There’s an acoustic version in this album but the original is excellent. Give it a try if you have a chance
JS: My favorite song is [GimmeThe Light] because it’s the song I can sing in R&B style which is my favorite style. I tried singing ad-lib in my own way or in high pitched-toned and even faked
CS: (In japanese) I like [Heartbeat]. Both steps and concept are awesome so I like it (in korean) the dance steps are zombie-like so I looked for a clue in [I am Legend]. Fans might feel a difference and a new look of 2PM a bit
JH: My Fave is [Back 2 U]. We were so busy while recording that we couldn’t even think it over thoroughly. But now that I listen carefully, I find it a good song. The feeling of the song is new and different. We can sing it in our own ways like we’re main character telling story
- Thank you! Thinking about what you’ve just said while listening to the album will be more enjoyable, I think. After debut in Korea for 2 years, how much has it changed?
TY: We can perform live better. Each member is able to sing more several pitches and express feelings well. Before debut, we felt too embarrassed to express our feelings during the recording. But we can do it smoothlynow
JS: Back then, it was unbelievable that we were to debut as singers. Now we want to show the unique 2PM. The words “Beast idols” was specially created to present us. So I have a feeling that I should try hard in order to not to disappoint anyone
- Then what hasn’t changed?
TY: Our relationship. On the stage, we perform charismatically yet we’re just next-door brothers off the stage. We comfortably live together unchanged ever since the beginning. I think this is the reason fans love us as well
- You’re very close. How do you separate your professional and private life?
JS: There’s nothing such separation since we love music so we don’t feel like we’re working at all. Though we’re tired, still it’s all for music. Just go back home and have some rest. No need to call it private life, it’s no difference
WY: (In Japanese) We couldn’t agree more
- When you’re tired, what do you do to relieve the stress?
WY: (Pointing at Taecyeon) Sleep with eyes open (laughs)
TY: Yeah, that’s my gift. I was sleeping minutes ago. (laughs) kidding!
JH: It’d be great to take a nap for a moment if we have time
JS: A short sleep! Short sleep! Say the word sleep shortly and say it bit by bit (laughs)
CS: Sleeping is good but we don’t have time for that so we drink coffee or eat some sweets to get rid of tiredness
NK: Sweets are really helpful when being tired but it’s not that good if we take it in excess (laughs) I rarely sleep so I’m fine. When we’re on the road, the others will sleep. Only me who stay awake watching TV or listening to music
- How long is it enough for you to sleep?
NK: 4 hrs will do. Actually, we’ll very happy if we’re able to sleep that long
WY: Yeah, it seems like enough sleeping
- You must be tired with that freaking busy schedule!Next question, where in Korea do you want to take Japanese fans on a date in winter?
TY: Thesea at Busan called Haeundae. Seas in winter are great. Stroll along together and talk about stuffs
JH: I want to go to a park in Ilsan inGyeonggi province. There’s a lake there but it’ll turn into an ice with snow covering all over it. I want to walk arm in arm with her
JS: In Seoul, there’s a place called Insadong with traditional atmosphere. You can have tradional tea if you go over there so I want to drink some hot tea with her and have a talk. Notebooks are provided for everyone to write their feelings and leave it there. We will write “we come here just the 2 of us” It’d great to have such sweet memory
- You guys are so romantic, what about you Chansung?
JH: Chansung will go to internet café because you like pc games (laughs)
CS: No (laughs) Mine might sounds simple but I want to go to a park near the Han River. Even in the strong breezing, we’ll still be warm if there’re 2 of us
JS: You’ll be dead! It’s freezing (laughs)
CS: It’s alright. I’m going to sit and look at the night view there.
JH: You’re gonna be dead (laughs)
CS: No, I’ll have a bowl of hot Udon
JS: (Shivering) lll..oooovvvveeee you. You’re going to die for sure! (laughs)
NK: Although Korea is good when it comes to winter, still I think we should go to a warm country so..welcome to Thailand!
- That’s Nichkhun’s hometown, isn’t it?
NK:Since I’m chosen to be Thai tourism ambassador so it’s not right to say Korea (laughs)Let’s making memories by doing some sunbathing in Thailand and eat delicious sea food!
WY: I want to go to Japan’s ancient city like Tokyo, Gyeongju. It’s said to have many ancient remains and museums
TY: You’re going to such places in winter?
WY: Why not? There’re heaters in museums…way better than the sea and the Han River!
- Nice closure. We’re looking forward to your debut in Japan!
