[News] ‘All-kill’ 2NE1, gets green light to enter the American market. Second place on iTunes chart

Girl group 2NE1 who has set the record for having 5 continuous hits on music charts has also made waves in the US.

On the same day that 2NE1’s new mini album was released on 28 July; it made it to the second place spot in iTunes (US) for electronic albums. On that day, the album was revealed to the entire world through iTunes.

Currently, 2NE1 is preparing for their US album under the direction of international Hip Hop producer, Will.I.Am. They have not set an exact date to break into the American market, but it seems they are about to turn on the green light on that soon.

2NE1’s current album consists of 6 hit songs, including the title track ‘Ugly’. Previously released ‘Don’t Cry’, ‘Lonely’, ‘I Am The Best’ and ‘Hate You’ all set records for topping the charts.

Title track ‘Ugly’ expresses the hurt that those who are not beautiful receive through the judgement of others. The lyrics enriched by the contrasting rock feel of the song gives the listener an unfathomable experience. The polish in the composition of the song is capturing many overseas fans with its charm as well.

In particular, the lyrics for the chorus of ‘Ugly’ are in English, which is something of an exception for a Kpop song. 2NE1 have received much love not just in Asia, but also in Europe and many English-speaking countries and inasmuch as they have received, they were equally eager to specially include the lyrics for the chorus in English, in consideration for and to cater to the preferences of their overseas fans.

Meanwhile, 2NE1 who have started their busy activities for ‘Ugly’ will hold their first solo concert ‘NOLZA’ from 26 August to 28 August and will officially debut in Japan in September.
