[News] EXO and B.A.P, the hottest rivalry of 2012?
Marking the start of the brand new year 2012, is a rising list of new groups, aiming for recognition as well as sparking rivalries. With a handful of rookies gearing for debut, the public has been focusing on two much-anticipated groups; SM Entertainement's EXO and TS Entertainment's B.A.P.
On January 9th, various online forums began discussing the topic, "2012's Clash of the Rookie Groups – EXO vs. B.A.P". Netizens have compared them to the legendary rivalry between Sechskies and H.O.T.
EXO, who's having the advantage of being part of big agency, SM Entertainment, has getting a lot of exposure before their debut. Comprised of Kai, Lu Han, Tao, Chen and Se Hun, the group has already released various of teasers. EXO's four members also performed at the "2011 MBC Gayo Daejaejun" with other SM artists.
Meanwhile, TS Entertainment has its own strategy, taking B.A.P to make their debut in a reality TV show on SBS-MTV called "Ta-Dah, It's B.A.P!". In addition, B.A.P members Bang Yong Guk, Zelo, and Him Chan have promoted through various individual activities before their debut. Bang Yong Guk has featured in Secret's Song Jieun's "Going Crazy" and B2ST's Yang Yoseob's "I Remember". He also formed a sub-unit group with Zelo and released a song "Never Give Up". While member Him Chan is gaining name recognition as the host of SBS-MTV "The Show".
Some netizens commented, "EXO looks like a combination of DBSK and SHINee", while others said "B.A.P. has a style reminiscent of Big Bang and hip hop".
