[NEWS] Boyfriend holds press interview for debut in Japan

The rising group “Boyfriend,” which swept diverse best new artist awards including the Golden Disk Award, held an official press interview at a luxury cruise in Tokyo Bay on May 28. Group member Min Woo expressed his feelings about receiving three grand prix awards last year as a new singer and revealed his determination, saying, “I was really happy to receive the honorable award in a short period after my debut. I am very thankful and I will make greater efforts in the future.”

Facing his debut in Japan, fellow member Young-Min expressed his feelings by saying, “I have been very thankful to my Japanese fans for their passionate interest coming to Korea since my debut in Korea. Now I have an opportunity to debut in Japan and I have some fear as well as great aspirations.”

Boyfriend signed a management contract with Bing, which manages popular Japanese singers such as national singer B’z, Zard and Kuraki Mai. Boyfriend officially announced that they will release their single music DVD “Be My Shine - Gimiohanasai” (tentative title) on August 22 in commemoration of their debut in Japan.

Boyfriend’s debut music in Japan, “Be My Shine,” is an original new song jointly composed by the domestic producer team Sweetune, which provided hit songs for SS501 and Infinite, and popular Japanese composer Matsuikoro (松井五郞).

Min Woo sent a message to his Japanese fans, saying, ”I have longed for the day to meet with my fans in Japan and I was really happy when my debut schedule in Japan was fixed. I expect great applause from our Japanese fans in future.”

At the press event, about 250 reporters gathered at the luxury cruise, showing great interest in Boyfriend. Boyfriend plans to release their special Japanese album “We Are BOYFRIEND” on June 6 before their debut in Japan.

Following their debut performance -- “First Date with Boyfriend in Japan” at the Budokan Showcase -- and the release of their single debut music DVD in Japan, Boyfriend plans to release several more music albums this year and will hold their album and Japanese tour next year.
