Director Im Kwon-taek's second son has followed his father into the movie business as an actor.

Core Entertainment said Tuesday that Im Dong-jae, who has adopted the screen name Kwon Hyun-sang, appeared in the recently released film "Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp."

The 29 year old, who studies theater and film at Dankook University, did not want to reveal his connection with the celebrated director to avoid prejudicing his career, his agency said.

This year's most anticipated horror movie, 'Death Bell 2' has just recently been released. As if the popularity of it's predecessor was not enough, the star-studded cast added on to the hype.

Popular idol Jiyeon of T-ara has been casted as one of the main cast, along with popular actors Hwang Jung Eum and Yoon Si Yoon. T-ara, who's members are all busy with their own solo activities, took a time-out off of their already busy schedule, to help promote the movie. The response from the viewers were explosive.

'Death Bell 2' started nation-wide screening on July 29th. The opening sales for the movie was unbelievable. On the opening day, the movie gathered 50,000 viewers. 97% of the movie theaters were sold out. As of yesterday, August 4, the movie has already gathered around 700,000 viewers. With this success, 'Death Bell 2' breaks the record for the fastest-selling horror movie in South Korea.**

T-ara who has agreed to promote the movie, appeared in selected movie theaters to help boost the movie's popularity. It seems their fans went out of their way just to see the movie and T-ara themselves. T-ara held a special fan-meet on the opening day, giving out their repackaged album with signatures.

A representative for Core Contents Media said in an interview, "T-ara's popularity definitely helped with the promotion of this movie. Although they were not in the final cut of the movie, the fans were still excited when they found out that T-ara will be in the cinemas"

=The article just kept repeating itself so i just collated it=

** = The articles I searched showed no info about which movie held the previous record. I tried daum-ing it but no turn out.

In a dark school ally, a trembling girl clings to the shirt of a figure she believes will offer her help, only to have her faint hope crushed with a cold (and bloody) response.

This is the same girl who just a day before smiled triumphantly after becoming the class valedictorian and gaining entry to her high school’s prestigious summer program.

The girl only wanted to raise her scores on Korea’s College Scholastic Aptitude Test (CSAT). Needless to say, however, the program becomes her worst nightmare.

In real life, the unlucky victim is Choi Ah-jin, a budding actress whose appearance in this film will likely boost her stardom. The film is the recently-released “Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp,” directed by Yu Seun-dong.

Unfortunately, Choi’s solid performance as the typical “mean girl” overshadows the performance of Park Ji-yeon, who plays the lead character Se-hee. Despite her charming looks and decent acting, Park appears more as eye-candy for her legion of fans than as a character who moves us to tears. Rising star Yoon Si-yoon’s celeb-worthy charisma also brightens the screen, but his spotlight moment in which his character Kwan-woo throws a lighter in slow motion disrupts the flow of the movie. In the role of the teacher Mr. Cha, veteran actor Kim Su-ro adds some much-needed weight to the film, but is killed early on. Similarly, Hwang Jung-eum, another top celebrity, is killed off in one blow. And yet, had the movie followed a single well-crafted story line, rather than attempt to show each character’s history in speedy flashbacks, it might have had more to offer than just pretty faces.

Given the success and potential of the previous “Death Bell” film from 2008, directed by Yoon Hong-seung, it is safe to say that “Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp” will ride the tide of the previous film.

But it should have taken more chances and offered audiences more than blood. Although director Yu worked to improve the murder scenes - using devices such as a metal-spiked motorcycle, a boiler room that becomes a death trap and drugs - the film won’t do much for viewers who are die-hard slasher film fans.

According to a viewer named Chang who saw the film on opening day, the film stood “somewhere between the ‘Saw’ series and other Korean creep-fests.”

Still, the sequel is missing the psychological pressures of midterm exams that made the previous film so thrilling. In that film, the audience shares the stress and guilt of the characters, who witness a classmate die each time they fail to solve a given problem in a certain number of minutes. In this way, test-taking became a matter of life and death.

That exaggeration of the high-pressure education system in Korea distinguished the first “Death Bell” film from other school-related horror flicks. In the sequel, however, the issue of Korea’s education fever only gets a mention in the first five minutes and is then discarded. The head teacher batters kids with instructions to sleep less and study more, but shortly thereafter he disappears, taking with him the weight of reality. The students, meanwhile, are left behind to “play” the killer’s game.

If another “Death Bell” is to toll, the makers of the film series will need to be more creative. The movie does deserve some credit for its novel use of a swimming pool and frank exploration of teenagers’ sexual curiosity, but the rest of the conventional plot kills the freshness of these scenes. The beginning is like deja vu: a gruesome corpse thuds on the library floor and a disembodied voice follows: “The exam has now begun. One by one, you will die!”

To make the audience shake with metric tons of unchecked terror, new elements of surprise are needed.

The director of part three, if there is one, should take the advice of another viewer who saw the film on opening day and said she was more scared by the character who walks around the school stalking a crush than by the killer.

I can only hope the series’ creators will make us shudder if and when the school bell rings again.

"Death Bell 2", starring T-ara's Jiyeon, Yoon Si Yoon, Kim Suro, Hwang Jeong Eum had nearly every screening sold out on it's opening day (July 28th).

The publisher (of the movie) said, "the main theater in Seoul was sold out and had explosive popularity. Most of the other theaters were either sold out, or around 90-95% full," he said.

At the Mokdong theater, fans were greeted by Hwang Jeong Eum, Yoon Si Yoon, Park Eun Bin, Ji Chang Wook and Choi Ah Jin who attended the screenings.

The directors, T-ara's Jiyeon and the rest of T-ara (Qri, Soyeon, Boram, Eunjung, Hyomin), Kim Suro, Nam Bo Ra and Son Ho Jun all also attended a different screening.

"Death Bell" was originally released in 2008 and was seen by a nationwide audience of 1.7 million people. Rarely can a horror movie be this successful, resulting in the sequel story.

On the morning of the 28th, an official for the movie said, "Released today at 10 A.M, we had an audience of over 13,000 people see the movie," she said, "it was 4 times as much as we expected on the opening day."

Theaters have already sold out in advance for the rest of July. Promotional posters were distributed across theaters early in July and created a big sensation. It's expected 50,000 people will see the movie before the end of July.

Recently a hot topic on the internet was the bikini scene in the movie with the cast members' luxorious bodies.

"Death Bell 2" was chosen by netizens as the most anticipated film of the summer among 26 other movies coming out this summer.

Netizens who saw the movie said, "I'm glad we saw 'Death Bell 2'," "I miss Kim Bum, please invite him back," "'Death Bell 2' is gonna be a huge success this summer."

Jiyeon, member of the girl group, T-ara, revealed more about her deadly schedule. She revealed about the very little time she gets to sleep, or take breaks, because of her tight schedule. Even the one night, two days during filming for her variety show "Heroes" takes up a lot of her time.

She said that, "currently, I usually get 3-4 hours or less of sleep, but when I go on the programs like SBS 'Heroes' I can get more which is why I think they're better than any other (variety shows)."

The process to set up the interview with Jiyeon was very hard, too, because of her extremely busy schedule. The meeting was put off twice and we almost gave up. But the third appointment was not that case. At night time we called and set up the interview to be at 10 o'clock this morning. Usually a burden at interviews and photoshoots is the 4-5 hours it takes for hair and make-up and getting dressed, but this time Jiyeon did hers before she left her dorm.

After the many twists and turns, the interview with Jiyeon finally began. Wearing a clean uniform, we went out to a dark room with coffee in our hands for the interview. You could see that the sweet girl has a face full of tiredness and was tired and buried deeply (?).

"Getting up every morning before dawn, with the upcoming release of our album, and shooting of our music video, I'm very busy. I'm surprised I was able to even come for an interview."

We were, too. For this interview, we looked at her more than just a girl group member, or a singer, but rather an actress. Her film debut "Death Bell 2" in which she stars in is expected to be released on the 28th. Although she's been in dramas before, this is her big screen debut which is a funky treat for her.

"Originally, the goal was to cast all the members of T-ara, but that changed. I was greedy and I became lucky to get anointed to the role. It was right after I finished "God of Study" so I went from one work to another, which was a little tiring. But drama is quite different from the dramas where my aegyo helped me.. I was the script and knew I had to work harder.

Jiyeon takes on the role of Seh Hee in "Death Bell 2" and one by one, her friends begin to die. Playing this role was different from her personality and she thought it was confusing at first.

She played a poor girl aiming to get good grades in high school in "God of Study" and a bully in "High Kick Through The Roof." When Jiyeon talks about her previous work, the tiredness wipes away from her eyes, and instead a twinkle comes.

"Honestly, I can not be one of those people to just land a role and act. I have a different look on this that's not as easy and makes it sometimes harder to act for me. I like to figure out their distinct personalities exactly and figure the attributes of the character's I portray. Each role I get a new reaction from fans. "God of Study", how cute, "High Kick Through The Roof", she has charisma. So my fans think of me as a person with charismatic aegyo? (laughter). For "Death Bell 2" I'm not sure what reaction I'll get and I'll have to see."

Actor Yoon Si Yoon recently made headlines when he revealed details about his kiss with T-ara's Jiyeon.

In the movie, "Death Bell 2", Yoon Si Yoon had a scene where he had to kiss Jiyeon's character. He revealed that for more than 13 hours they were re-shooting the kissing scene, and they had to kiss more than 300 times.

Yoon Si Yoon said, "The first shoot of the certain scene, I was breathing too hard and put so much air in her mouth she became swollen like a blowfish," he said, 'I was having a really difficult time with it, and I think I was a lot more nervous than Jiyeon," he admitted.

"Death Bell 2" is about a special class of 30 students. Suddenly one by one, 12 students become murdered. It will be released on the 28th of this month.
