Pledis Entertainment, the label behind stars like Son Dam Bi and After School, has announced that they will be holding auditions this month in cities across California!

Titled "U.S.A. Personal Audition," Pledis Entertainment officials will be personally visiting applicants that hope to become their next big star for private, 1:1 auditions.

"We've received so many audition requests from fans in the U.S. every time we held auditions for After School's ninth member, After School Boys, and even Happy Pledis. The distance made it impossible for them to try out, and we feel grateful for their interest and support, which is why we decided to go to them for 1:1 private auditions," the casting director for Pledis revealed.

Fans in the L.A. and San Francisco area will be able to submit their applications (in the areas of singing, dancing, acting, and modeling) starting from September 22 to 30 for L.A. and October 1 through 3 for San Francisco.

E-mails detailing name, age, gender, nationality, education, and contact information should be sent to pacemaker@pledis.co.kr. Further information regarding the date and location of your audition will be sent individually to your phone number

Auditions to be held at the Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown Hotel on July 16, 2011

Los Angeles, CA, 6/30/11 ‐ MBC is proud to present the 2nd season of "MBC Star Audition", Korea's celebrated singing competition show. Contestants will be picked from all over the globe to compete for a cash prize and a chance to debut as a pop singer in Korea.

Contestants who pass the initial audition phase will be flown to Korea in mid‐August to compete against other finalists for the grand prize, and an opportunity to become an international singing sensation.

Finalists who travel to Korea will receive mentoring from notable Korean pop celebrities – last season, singers such as Tae Won Kim (of Boohwal), Seung Hun Shin, and Yoon‐Ah Kim (of Jaurim) participated in the mentoring process.

The auditions are open to anyone, with no age, gender, or ethnicity requirements – the only prerequisite is that contestants should be able to sing at least one song in Korean. Fluency in Korean is not necessary, however.

David Oh, Tae Kwon Lee, and Hee Joo Chung, 3 of last season's finalists, will be flying to Los Angeles for the auditions – fans of the show will be able to meet them and possibly hear them sing.

On‐line applications are available at MBC's website:

YG Entertainment will soon begin hunting for talented singers all around Asia.

On November 4th, YG Entertainment stated, “Next year, on January 28th, we will be revealing an open online audition (www.yg-audition.com). We will be looking forward to seeing talents that will be the future of YG Entertainment, as those who will succeed the nation’s best singers: Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, and Gummy.”

YG Entertainment began overseas auditions back in June for the first time in six years, and have been traveling to America and other overseas countries to hunt for talented singers. They have been receiving such a hot response that their official website even crashed due to heavy traffic.

For these auditions, the finalists from the online auditions will have a real life audition in Korea, which will be judged directly by YG’s head man, Yang Hyun Suk.

YG have been known to not hold open auditions in the past, however, the company has finally decided to extend the number of open auditions starting from June of this year.

“We like how people can show their strong talents in a short amount of time. If they don’t have confidence in having only one talent, working harder to show a variety of talents will net a good result,” said a representative of YG Auditions.

YG ASIA Auditions will commence at the beginning of 2011, starting from Korea, then to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, the YG Family Concert will take place this weekend, from 4 – 5th December.

All you have to do is to upload a video of yourself singing a Korean Pop song onto Youtube. Based on the number of views and the ratings, you may have the chance to proceed to a 2nd Audition that will be held in Korea. The final winner will not only have his or her debut sponsored by MBC, he or she will also be awarded KRW 300Million.

The Video submission period is from 10 Nov to 27 Nov, and the video selection will be conducted from 28 Nov to 3 Dec. After School's members have been increasing from time to time. First, they started as five members then Uee joined the group during their "Diva" promotion last year. As of November 2009, ex-member, Soyoung graduated and Raina and Nana joined the group, making After School a 7 members girl-group at that time. Earlier this year, Lizzy was revealed as the 8th member of After School before releasing their 3rd-single album "Bang!".

Back in July, Pledis Entertainment held online auditions in searching for the ninth member of After School but it turns out to be two new members instead of one. Today, the pictures of new members were revealed. They will undergo trainings before debuting as the new members of After School. Now, After School is a 10 members girl-group, making them the largest girl-group to date.

Wonder Girls watch out. A new Asian girl group is on the way.

FarWest Entertainment -- a production company helmed by former Walt Disney Company (Asia Pacific) president Jon Niermann -- and a group of Asian partners are behind a fledgling girl band enterprise called “Project Lotus.”

The concept behind “Project Lotus” is simple.

Get five talented girls from Korea, Japan, China, India and the Philippines. Pair them up with Grammy Award-winning producers Eliot Kennedy and Brian Grant. Give them songs composed by prominent song writers like Take That’s Gary Barlow. Get it all down on film and drop it on the world.

Grammy Award-winning producers Eliot Kennedy (left) and Brian Grant (center) are set to compose songs with Canto-pop singer Jonathan Wong for a new Pan-Asian girl group.

In the midst of pre-auditions, FarWest and team are busy culling talent from a variety of outlets, including the Internet, where hopefuls can upload their audition videos onto Project Lotus’ website (www.projectlotus.tv), Facebook page or their YouTube channel.

To date 850 girls have sent in their clips. The number could more than double by the Aug. 2 submission deadline.

Applicants need to be Asian women aged 18 to 25 who can speak English and sing and dance. Clips should feature hopefuls singing an English-language pop song.

According to production manager Laura Conway, video clips are just the beginning of an extensive auditioning process that includes country manager-hosted tryouts. Producers will also tour Asian cities to scout out candidates from performing arts schools, modeling agencies and local management companies.

“The candidates who are successful will be invited to attend a live audition in their capital city,” Conway explained via e-mail. “This audition will take place in front of a panel of celebrity judges.”

A group of 25 finalists, five from each country, will then fly to Hong Kong to take part in a six-week training process. One girl from each country will be eliminated every week until only five are left.

The resulting footage is slated to air in February and March. The album release is set for April.

“TV deals are currently in negotiation,” said Conway. “We intend that the television show will be broadcast throughout the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Asia.”

Of their desire to target an international audience of girls aged 6 to 14, Conway said: “We believe that the timing is right for singers from Asia to make it big in the West.”
