After spending the last year caught up in a court case and scandal of assault and blackmail, rapper Crown J is set to make a comeback.

On June 9, the singer will hold a comeback show at the club Phantom located in Nonhyun-dong, southern Seoul. At the event, he will sing new songs to be released soon.

“He’s spent a long time on the album and it’s going to be a success. He will take his time meeting the fans who have supported him throughout the ordeal [he has gone through],” said a spokesperson for Crown J.

Meanwhile, back in March, Crown J was sued by his former manager on charges of blackmail and assault. Crown J was sentenced to six months’ probation.

This was in reference to an alleged scuffle that broke out between the two back in 2010 where the singer blackmailed his former manager to sign a contract that would allow Crown J to take over ownership of a yacht worth 100 million won ($85,358) as well as some money.

Rapper Crown J updated fans with a hint of his impending comeback.

On May 14th, Crown J posted photos on his Twitter with the captions, “New look! Photo by Photographer Lee Gun Don” and “New photo for the ladies.”

In both photos, Crown J is sporting his trademark buzzed haircut and fashionably wearing a sleek white suit and fancy accessories.

Crown J is currently working on a new album and plans on releasing three of his new songs at a club in Kangnam on June 9th.

On December 7th, singer Crown J has received his verdict from the Seoul Central District Court and sentenced two years probation for assaulting his former manager. He will receive eight years in prison if he violates his parole.

During the final hearing, the court stated, "Although the defendant pleaded not guilty, the investigation revealed that the defendant was indeed guilty."

Last year, Crown J with the help of an accomplice, had assaulted his ex-manager and forced him to sign a memo that required him to pay for a yacht worth over 1 billion won at a coffee shop in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam District.

Crown J insisted that the signing of the memo was a voluntary choice from his ex-manager and has denied all charges. However, the court gave out its verdict stating Crown J guilty on the charges of forcing his manager to sign over the yacht but deemed him as innocent on other charges.

Rapper Crown J is currently being detained in the Seoul KyungNam Precinct for assaulting his manager and forcibly obtaining legal financial documents.|

The situation seems to be that Crown J was trying to start his own entertainment agency and took out a loan worth 200 million Won (~$180,000) with his manager as the co-signer. Crown J and his manager decided to meet up In order to talk about repaying the loans last August 29th.

That night, Crown J and three of his friends allegedly assaulted Crown J's manager at a coffee shop, causing him to have a concussion. On the same night, he allegedly forcibly obtained papers indicating transferral of a yacht worth 100million Won (~$90,000) and made his manager rewrite contracts regarding loans payments.

However, Crown J has said that "Though I did take him in my car, I did not assault him, and I did not force him to write anything."

KBS placed a ban on MC Mong, Shin Jung Hwan, Kim Sung Min, and Crown J, who had recently stirred significant criticism.
KBS announced on December 10 that they had decided to ban those entertainers through a council meeting held on December 8. The decision to restrict their appearance on KBS was made because MC Mong has been suspected of dodging his required military duty, Shin Jung Hwan was charged with gambling, and Kim Sung Min and Crown J were charged with illicit drug use. Once they are banned on KBS, they cannot appear on any program even through film footage.
But the decision to ban MC Mong and Shin Jung Hwan was exceptional because MC Mong’s trial is still due to be held in March and Shin Jung Hwan has fled overseas without being investigated by the police. A person in the KBS council said, “We decided to ban all those entertainers because they could ruin the reliability of broadcasting. If someone is acquitted or has enough time for self-restraint and self-reflection, we can lift the ban.”
By adding those four entertainers, KBS has come to ban a total of 22 entertainers. KBS places a ban on entertainers who have aroused social criticism with immoral or illegal behavior through a decision made by council meeting.

Just a day after actor Kim Sung-min made headlines with news that he was arrested on charges of possessing and using methamphetamine, singer Crown J too was taken into custody for drug use - on his account, for smoking marijuana.

A report by major public network SBS reported through its eight o'clock news on Sunday that police arrested the 31-year-old hip-hop artist upon his arrival at Incheon International Airport in Korea on December 2.

Police said they received confirmation that Crown J, whose real name is Kim Kei-hoon, had habitually smoked the illegal drug back at his home in the US where he had stayed at since May.

Crown J, who debuted in Korea in 2006, gained popularity the following year after releasing his song "I Will Take Her Away" combined with his appearance in make-believe reality show "We Got Married" where he played the husband of solo songstress Seo In-young.

Under South Korean law, marijuana users can be sentenced to a maximum of five years in jail or fined up to 50 million won, approximately 33,300 dollars.

Last year, singing duo Duke member Kim Ji-hoon was handed a suspended 10-month jail term with a fine of 130,000 won for taking ecstasy and smoking marijuana.

Meanwhile, reports said that Kim Sung-min, from the "What Makes a Man" segment of variety show "Happy Sunday," was arrested on December 3 on charges of using methamphetamine which he reportedly also confessed to have smuggled in from overseas.

"I'm sorry. To everyone who will be disappointed and hurt because of me, to my family and everyone I love ..." he wrote on his Twitter account the following day.
