Popular comedian Kim Gura has quit all the TV programs he hosts after an old audio clip went viral in which he referred to the so-called comfort women forced into sexual slavery by imperial Japan as "prostitutes."

The one-minute audio clip came from an online radio program he hosted back in 2002 on the popular political parody website Ddanzi Ilbo. Kim reports on an incident where 80 prostitutes at a brothel in southeastern Seoul rented buses to visit the National Human Rights Commission to protest against an indiscriminate police crackdown.

"We haven't seen a sight like this, where 80 prostitutes board two buses, for quite a long time, probably since the comfort women or something like that," Kim is heard to say. When the clip spread on the Internet, websites of popular TV programs Kim hosted were filled with thousands of comments criticizing the comedian.

As controversy intensified, Kim issued a statement through his agency saying he would immediately quit the eight entertainment programs he hosts.

Kim Gura recently expressed his thoughts on the the Big 3′s variety skills.

On the January 6th broadcast of JTBC Idol Premiere, Kim Gura told Miss A and MBLAQ, “Since JYP (artists) are not good at variety, you can’t learn from them.”

After hearing this MBLAQ replied, “We’re not in JYP.” But Kim Gura responded, “Even if Hyundai is not written formally on the title, the familly of KCC still applies as Hyundae. In the end, MBLAQ who was created by Rain, the student of JYP, goes under the same title.”

Kim Gura didn’t end here and continued, “Different from JYP, SM is good at variety. If you get to know YG, they are pretty flexible,” and expressed his evaluation.

However, MBLAQ and Miss A who were shamed by Kim Gura were said to have put Kim Gura in embarrassing situations several times during this broadcast.

March 9, Sistar’s Bora and Hyorin, and Secret’s Sunhwa and Jieun were guests on Radio Star.

Kim Gookjin introduced them by stating “They are currently the hottest idols in Korea besides IU.” Upon that statement, Kim Goora reasoned “That’s because SNSD are in Japan right now, and Kara are in confusion.”

Kim Goora also mentioned the CEO of Sistar’s agency and stated “The agency was originally promoting K.Will, but changed to promoting Sistar. It’s probably because all he knows is copying Wheesung’s voice.”

On MBC’s broadcast of Goldfish-Radio Star on the 23rd, Kim Gura caused a stir by revealing that Kim Tae Won had asked when Heechul would enter the military.

During the broadcast, which featured Sin Youngil and Kim Sungju as guests, Kim Gura asked them, “which MC position do you covet the most?” They replied, “Since we started off as announcers, the hardest posts would be the those of Kim Gura and Heechul.” To this Kim Gura replied confidently, “Well, my position is basically matchless and untouchable.” Following, Heechul added, “I also have my good looks.”

However, at this, Kim Gura said, “Actually, I thought Heechul’s position was impossible to replace but Kim Tae Won was wondering when Heechul would enter the military.” Due to previous MC Sin Junghwan being ousted due to charges on suspicions of gambling, the likes of Kim Taewon, Moon Heejun, Tony An jostled for the coveted open MC position.

Heechul had won the MC position from these challengers but felt nervous after finding out there were still many others after his position.

In the meantime, Kim Gura chided Heechul when the latter made a mistake while reading the script. He admonished Heechul, “You will look foolish in front of the announcers,” causing laughter.

Now i wonder when will Heechul enter the military. Is it this year as what the speculations say? Well the official announcement from him will be the final answer right?
