Cyworld BGM (Boys & Girls love Music) meets Philippine Star girl Charice

SBS’s show Star King has featured the surprising explosive singing of a young Filipino girl. Don’t you remember? The girl’s name is Charice Pempengco (Sharice Pempingko). After the market success of her debut album in the U.S. Billboard charts, she is now becoming a star and is back in Korea.
We spoke to Charice in the dressing room while waiting for the taping of ‘Kim Jung-eun’s Chocolate’.

BGM: Charice, Hi. We are Cyworld BGM, the no.1 online music service in Korea. Will you please say hello to your fans, Charice?
Charice Pempengco (Charice): Well .. I’m so glad to be back here. (Laughter.) South Korea is the country that means a lot to me, and I think another home. Every time I come here I really want to thank everyone.



BGM: Charice, tell us your other favorite artist’s music. What are some of your favorites?

Charice:

◦‘Crawl’ by Chris Brown. I do not know much about the lyrics, but I like the way Chris sings it – feeling kind of melody, it’s a sad song.
◦‘Not Afraid’ by Eminem. The reason.. I love Eminem! (Laughter.)
◦‘I Swear’ by All 4 One. One of the most romantic songs I’ve ever heard.
I could not possibly think even more. It’s my story. (Laughter.) And..

◦Jay-Z & Alicia Keys ‘Empire State Of Mind’. Jay-Z is a great rapper and I think a great producer. I’ve met Jay-Z, I thought he was very humble and friendly. Personally, I pray that I can meet Beyonce, too, some day.
◦Eminem again. ‘Love The Way You Lie’ with Rihanna.
◦And my No.1 Beyonce’s ‘Halo’.
Why… I think these are my favorite songs until I die.

◦Oh and one more can I say? Super Junior’s ‘Sorry Sorry’. The composer who wrote the song is my friend, Drew Ryan Scott, the song’s English version.

Netizens criticize Star King for their "carelessness" which was the reason why Luna of f(x) cried on the show.

On the 24th broadcast of SBS "Star King", there was a huge explosion of interest when Charice Pempengco (Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco) was announced to be singing and appearing on the show.

Charice showed her gratitude for Star King on her visit to korea, She said, "Because of Star King, I became the talk of interest in the Internet which is how I was discovered by Oprah Winfrey and contacted me to be in the Oprah Winfrey Show".

After She appeared in the Oprah Winfrey Show, world class producer David Foster went to her where she officially had her debut as a singer internationally.

Also, in the Show, Luna volunteered to sing "One Moment in time" by Whitney Houston. Luna showed outstanding vocal skills with a cool way of singing the song, after she sung she received cheers from her fellow artists.

However, It was how a problem arose. MC Kang Ho Dong, as soon as Luna finished the song asked Charice to sing the same song, Charice did as she was told and sung "One moment in time" showing a powerful performance with her rich voice.

Luna was humiliated and the cast was surprised as she was in tears and the cast tried to comfort Luna, Charice as well, said her words of comfort to Luna. Charice said to Luna that a lot would tell her "She's not good enough" but as long as you believe in yourself which is the important thing.

Luna at the end of the broadcast said, "When I was younger before I debuted, I saw Charie on TV singing 'One moment in time'. After that, I tried to be like her as I want to become a world star". Luna was grateful of Charice's encouragement.

However, the netizens said that the reason why Luna cried was because the PD's made Charice sing the same song after Luna sung making it a fueled confrontation between the two singers. Also, they criticized the staff because the microphone volume were different on each singer's own microphone.

However, the Staff had not yet made any statements about this. Luna and Charice are both singers from a young age and netizens are concerned that this incident would leave a scar on Luna's heart.

Charice Pempengco who is now known as a world star after her appearance at Star king, Oprah, and many more 3 years ago. 3 years later on July 24th, Charice came back to Star King and had a great performances.

But this is not the end of her appearances in Korea. She also went to Kim Jung Eun's Chocolate and performed her hit single Pyramid.

Charice has a very powerful voice that gives you goosebumps whenever you hear her sing.

She is really a talented girl and I guess all of her fans in Korea love to see her back after 3 years.

It has been two years since the international sensation appeared at Star King. Last 2 years, she was able to sing a duet with Kyuhyun of Super Junior, and through Star King, Oprah discovered her which is what brought her to where she is now.

Charice recently visited Star King on the 12th last week to film for a new episode, The episode was aired last 24th of July, check out her performance vids:

Charice will be going to appear on South Korean program Star King on July 24th according to her Twitter page.

For all the K-Pop fans, you know what Star King is right? For Everyone who doesn’t know what Star King is, it’s a South Korean variety program where Korean celebs show up to see talented people perform their specific talents. On this program a while back, Charice was invited to go and preform on the show and now she’s going back! I wonder if she’s going to preform again or if she’ll be watching other talented people preform. If you get Star King, tune in July 24th!

I still remembered the time when I saw her on StarKing, way back then. And boom! She became a star on her own!
