Block B may be the "New Kids on the Block" but they've already found themselves a strong following in the few short months since their debut! Proteges of rapper/producer Cho PD, the group is formed by seven members: leader Zico, Jae Hyo, Tae Il, B-Bomb, Park Kyung, U Kwon, and P.O.

Blending hip-hop, dance and pop, the group made a splash in April with their debut track "Freeze" and "Wanna Be". Leader Zico wrote and co-composed Block B's new title song "Tell Them", an upbeat number for the summer.

The one-and-a-half-minute long teaser released today is titled “Halo“, the first track off the mini-album. The teaser features brief shots of the boys filming for “Tell Them” before transitioning into “Halo”.

As with their previous release, the music video was directed by BoA’s brother, Metaoloz. Block B's first mini-album "New Kids on the Block" is scheduled to release on June 27th, 2011. Their mini-album will have 8 tracks, including 2 instrumental songs:
01. Halo
02. 가서 전해
03. U Hoo Hoo
04. Wanna B
05. 그대로 멈춰라!
06. 나만 이런거야?
07. 가서 전해 (INST)
08. 그대로 멈춰라! (INST)

It is known that this group wrote 100 songs in their trainee days. Block B sure is another rookie boy-group you need to look out!

Boy band Big Bang sought to bring back the warmth of pre-digital pop music on their latest mini album, "Tonight," which was released just recently.

"Listeners must be tired of the rampant use of digital effects in K-pop, just as we are," the band said. "We wanted to comfort and cheer up people distressed by a series of unfortunate events in the country last year through bright, lyrical and melodious music."

The band's leader G-Dragon, who was in charge of producing the album, said, "The global trend in music is a mixture of the warmth of the analogue age and the coolness of digital. We tried to harmonize the new and the old in our new album."

The album is the first in two years by the band, while the members have worked on various solo projects. "What we found in this project is that each member has discovered his own distinctive style and view of music," G-Dragon said. "Our on-stage presence and spontaneity have improved so I think we all share the spotlight evenly. When I was producing the album, it felt like I was collaborating with five different artists."

Another member, Daesung, said, "Just like a line in one of our songs says, we have different opinions but share the same goals, so we are able to have sincere conversations. That's why I think we can work together without major conflicts."

YG Entertainment (YGE) released the first teaser image for Big Bang’s much anticipated new album today. The image has “2011.02.24” as the release date of the album and says “4th Mini Album Release” on the bottom, indicating Big Bang’s new album won't be a full album.

It comes as a surprise that Big Bang is releasing a mini album this time as it was widely expected the group would release their first full album in two years. But some local media said this is just part of YG’s strategy to keep the fans more engaged with the group by releasing more albums frequently. In fact, G-Dragon has mentioned in an interview that the group has plans to release another album this year after their return from Japan. There were rumors of this album including some rock-style tracks, but with just one teaser image release, it’s hard to predict what it will look like.

The highly popular boy group is currently in the States filming their new music video. They are scheduled to release their new tracks through the “2011 BIG SHOW” from Feb. 25th to 27th. YGE explained the reason for choosing a live event over a more customary TV show route is because a live concert allows the artist to showcase every track with no time restraints as opposed to TV shows where you’re limited to only a handful of performances. It’s also a better platform to interact with fans and get them engaged in the performance as well, YGE said. With a mini album release, it’s doubtful that Big Bang will have that many new tracks to perform. But YGE may use the “2011 BIG SHOW” as a stage to showcase some of their other recent hit songs, such as from GD & TOP’s unit album and Seungri’s latest solo album. Tickets to the show have all been sold out but we’ll keep you posted as soon as the new album gets released. Stay tuned!
