Actress So Young recently sat down for an interview with ’Break News’ and discussed about her upcoming drama, After School and aspiration.

Interviewer: At the 2012 Jeonju International Film Festival you wore a dress that became a hot topic online. Do you understand why?

So Young: I did not dream it would become a big topic. I was puzzled, I really appreciate the public’s interest.

Interviewer: You are going to appear in the Channel A drama ‘Miss Panda & Hedgehog’, Tell us a bit about it.

So Young: The drama is a romantic comedy, filled with really funny and entertaining content.

Interviewer: When you left After School there were many speculations and rumors. How come you didn’t respond?

So Young: There were a variety of reasons. As I said several times throughout the years… Here I would like to say no more.

Interviewer: Do you have regrets withdrawing from After School? Are you still in touch with the members?

So Young: I want to feel the emotions I felt on stage, once again, of course. But I did not regret withdrawing even once. I met Kahi again filming ’Dream High 2′ and I also keep in touch with the other members.

Interviewer: What actor do you respect? Who do you have as a role model?

So Young: I respect Kim Hae-sook….she has appeared in a lot of work I want to learn from. Son Ye-jin is a role model. I want to be an actress with various colors including cute, sexy, charismatic and pure to grow as a wonderful actress like Son Ye-jin.

Interviewer: A male actor you admire?

So Young: (Without hesitation) Cha Seung Won. Because of the MBC drama ‘The Greatest Love’.

Interviewer: What is your entertainment desire (aspiration)? Is there anything you want to do differently?

So Young: In the future, I hope to continue to live as an actor…so far I have only showed a youthful appearance…I want to show a variety of charms in the fine arts…I will try very hard to do my best.

So Young recently sat down with ‘TV Report’ and in the interview she stated she has never ‘regretted the withdrawal’ from After School.

When news of So Young’s ‘graduation’ from After School was revealed, health and academic reasons were cited as the cause. Various rumors for So Young’s exit from the group were also spread online which caused great interest from netizens.

A major rumor regarding her ‘graduation’ is that So Young was bullied into leaving the group. In a recent televison broadcast So Young commented on her withdrawal and joked that Kahi was stern which made the subject a hot topic again. This is a rumor So Young has called ‘ridiculous‘ and was surpised by this speculation when it arose three years ago.

Even though So Young has made statements in the past dispelling the bullying rumors, they continue to follow her. Because of Kahi’s ‘graduation’ announcement and their recent appearances together in the drama ‘Dream High 2′, interest in So Young’s relationship with the After School members has increased. When asked she answered that she ‘remained friends‘ and has “strong ties with the members“.

At the end of the interview So Young stated with extreme emphases, “at the end of this interview I hope that the controversy ends” regarding the bullying rumors.

In August, So Young will appear in the anticipated drama ‘Miss Panda & Hedgehog‘.

The new MBC variety show ‘Jewelry House’ has been confirmed to premiere on May 17th.
Jewelry House will air a pilot episode on May 17th and according to a rep from MBC, “…after the first episode seeing the reaction of viewers will determine regular programming“. This show will be styled as both a variety and talk show with a mixture of celebrities including So Young,  Lee Teuk, Mir, Jung Bo Suk, Jo Eun Sook, Gong Hyun Joo and Shin Hae Chul.
Today two pictures from the recording of the pilot episode was uploaded to Gong Hyun Joo’s cyworld page with the caption “We’ve got a new family – titled the Jewelry Family! ~ Please expect a pleasant first shot“. The group picture shows the hopeful cast-mates gathered together giving off a family vibe. Viewers also get a sneak peek at the set of the show in the background.
After seeing the picture netizens left comments like “Everybody looks good“.
The group U-Kiss will participate in the first recording of ‘Jewelry House’.

So Young has been confirmed for appearances in the new MBC TV variety show ‘Jewelry House’.


‘Jewelry House’ will also star Leeteuk from Super Junior as one of the hosts. This show is scheduled to begin recording early next month.


More information about the show will be revealed in upcoming weeks.



On April 26th the 2012 Jeonju International Film Festival was held.


So Young who recently starred in the popular drama ‘Dream High 2′ was in attendance.


When So Young arrived on the red carpet wearing a dazzling red mini dress she received a lot of attention. After the event she uploaded three new selcas onto her twitter account expressing her excitement about attending the film festival. So Young revealed this was her first time attending the annual Jeonju International Film Festival and that  ”next year, promoting as an ambassador I’d like to participate” expressing her happiness from the event.


So Young’s image on the red carpet is a bit different from her usual attire and from any character she has played in a drama. After presenting an “innocent” charm in the past the change in attire which shows off her glamorous body brought a lot of attention from both fans and Netizens. Her dress was even highlighted several times as one of the most fashionable at the film festival along with other well known actresses.





Official pictures from the event became a hot topic online and after So Young posted her selcas they were uploaded to many online community boards.
Netizens left many comments including “Beautiful“, “I hope you succeed as an actress!“, “Fighting So Young Unni!“, “Your body is really beautiful” and “You have a nice shape, I did not know” among a variety of other reactions.

 So Young will make her official acting debut on a KBS 1TV daily drama currently tentatively titled, “우리집 여자들 The Women of Our Home”. This drama will be a follow up to the popular daily drama Joo stars in “Smile, Donghae”. The new daily drama “우리집 여자들 The Women of Our Home” will center around six young people who love their work and will contain a love story. This will be a “bright and healthy family drama” that should be entertaining and bring lots of laughs.


So Young will not be the heroine (main character) but will play “a character which is lively”. A representative from KBS commented that this part fit So Young perfectly as her looks are “akin to the physical features” written for the yet unnamed character. They also stated that she will have a “fresh, bright and cheerful appearance in the drama”. Casting for the drama is still being conducted and the lead will be revealed soon. There is no word yet on an air date.

Ex-After School member Yoo Soyoung has just revealed that she has broken up with her boyfriend, actor Lee Kyun. They have been dating since fall, and had dated openly.

However, the two have broken up for many reasons recently.Soyoung’s agency commented, “Since Soyoung has been preparing for her acting debut, it’s a shame that they broke up. However, even though they are not dating right now, the two are still close friends and are cheering each other’s success in acting.”

Soyoung’s news has been popping up here and there, but there has been no concrete news of her comeback into the industry. Have you been keeping up on her?
