Born in Chuncheon Kpop Star Teen Top ‘Changjo’

Black belt in Taekwondo, Jeolkwondo
Learnt dancing since elementary school
Popular for their powerful ‘knife-like dance’
Becomes the nation’s confession guy with “Be Ma Girl”
Touring 4 countries in Europe starting from 2 Feb
The new K-pop star idol boy group ‘Teen Top’ takes flight.

The moment the tickets to their Europe Tour France show were released on the 5th, it ranked 1st on the sales chart. Titled the ‘TEEN TOP SHOW! Live tour in Europe 2013”, starting from the 2nd in Munich to the 10th, they’ll visit Germany(Dortmund), England(London), France(Paris), Spain(Barcelona), meeting fans from 4 countries and 5 cities.

Raised in Chuncheon, Teen Top’s youngest member Changjo(real name: Choi Jonghyun,18) is a born dancer. He attended Chuncheon elementary school and middle school and is currently attending Chuncheon Agriculture and Technical High School; he’s an idol who’s still a student.

His height on his profile is 179cm and he weighs 58kg. But after his debut, he experienced a growth spurt and his current height is slightly over 180cm – growing up into a man real well. He’s not someone who’s just tall like a tree nor does he have the gentle image. On stage, in the tough choreography, you can feel his strong masculinity.

Before he started learning dance, his dream was to be a bodyguard. He’s a black belt at Taekwondo and Jeolkwondo. He did say that if he hadn’t become a singer, he would have carried on his dream to be a bodyguard.

But he’s still afraid of walking home alone at night; he’s still as chatty – just like any other teenager.

The boy group he’s in, Teen Top, is well-known for their powerful and masculine knife-like dance. You cannot undermine Changjo’s role in the group as his hobby is to choreograph dances.

He started dancing in his 5th year in elementary school. As he had interest in dance, he started to dream of becoming a singer. In the 1st year of middle school, he was determined to become like Big Bang’s Taeyang; someone who has the skills to be able to showcase his dance on stage. And of course, his debut was in his 3rd year of middle school.

Changjo would occasionally give 1-to-1 lessons to his oldest hyung from the same agency, Shinhwa’s Andy, this means that he’s really good at dancing.

In the music industry where tens of idol groups make their debut yearly, Teen Top with their “earnest determination” they have survived in the industry. Now they stand alongside K-Pop sunbaenims and set their sights for the world.

In particular, to match with the mood of Summer, Teen Top released their ‘Summer Special’ with the new song ‘Be Ma Girl’ which showed their potential to outlast in the industry. Teen Top’s confession song ‘Be Ma Girl’ earned great popularity and they were able to called the “nation’s confession guys”

“In order to become the forerunners leading the K-pop wave we’ll work even harder. For Chuncheon’s dancer Changjo and Teen Top to take over the music industry, please show us lots of love”

The youngest member in Teen Top, Changjo’s first vacation!

I was set on fulfilling the plans I had made in my mind all these while.

Because of my schedule, I couldn’t meet up with my family frequently so we took this time and went to a nearby place for a vacation. It was an enjoyable time; I acted like a kid in front of my parents and laughed louder than any other times. And I met up with my cousins who I haven’t met in a long time and went to the swimming pool to have fun. One by one I spent time with my family, ah~ what a joy.

I met up with my friends and watched movies; ate nice food and talked about the things that happened in our lives. Time flew by without me knowing as I was with my friends.

I was spending my vacation busily but when it was the one-week mark, I began to be curious about what Niel hyung was doing as we never contacted after the vacation began. To be honest, after our debut we have never spent such a long time apart; so before the vacation began, Chunji hyung said “We have been too close all these while. Let’s try to spend this vacation apart and get to appreciate one another. So let’s treat no news as good news for this 10 days” Although we said that confidently, but just a few days later, we started asking about one another. The thought of it just makes me laugh.

However, other than leaving a short message before boarding the plane for London, Niel hyung didn’t contact us at all. When we asked him about it later he said that the 5 of us would have asked him “Get us gifts” so he kept the promise of treating no news as good news! The only person who kept the promise, Niel hyung you’re too much~~~~

As I was happily spending my free time, I suddenly thought of the practice studio in ChunCheon where I practised really hard at for the audition before my debut. Without a plan as the memory came into my mind, I left for the place.

The remaining days of the vacation, when it’s dinner time, my friends and I borrowed a practice studio to practise dancing. I remembered the times 4 years ago when I practised till late for the audition in order to become Teen Top’s Changjo. As I look into the mirror while dancing, looking at the amount of sweat, my original motivations became vivid in my mind “Never forget where I started from; to become a singer that always works hard”. I promise to return to the Changjo then.

The next day after the practice, instead of my usual jog, I decided to climb a mountain. I wanted some time alone to reflect on myself, so after I was packed, I started climbing the mountain.

During the one and a half hours to get to the top. From the hard times as a trainee where there were monthly evaluations to all the times we’ve spent as one, as Teen Top; it flashed past in my mind as scenes in a movie.

Finally I had reached the top! I shouted from Changjo to Changjo, “Changjo ya! Be together under the name of Teen Top, don’t disappoint the fans who have supported us and believed in us. Never forget how you started out’

I promised to never forget how I started. I felt quite proud of myself, and I looked up at the bright sky, I dreamt of all the cools we were going to have ahead.

The next day, as I wasn’t physically trained to climb the mountain, my muscles started aching. A little? I did regret^^ But I was proud of myself “I’m the real maknae who has deep thoughts as much as his hyungs”, and spent the last night of the break. From tomorrow onwards, I’ll return as Teen Top’s member, all the way fighting!

On January 10th, through me2day and Twitter, TEEN TOP have personally stepped out and clarified the issue wittily which garnered attention amongst netizens.

L.Joe who was in charge of the rap in the title track “Crazy” which was the root of the controversy, left a clarification filled with aegyo. “I think there were many people who got a shock~ while listening to my rap But don’t worry it’s not a cuss word!! I’ll pay attention to pronounce my rap accurately. If you’re feeling unhappy or annoyed, please don’t only cheer faster for that part during ‘Crazy’”

Following which Changjo added wittily “I‘ll be watching over LJOE who is rapping with our fans!! Right then in recent event, as you listen to Teen Top’s ‘Crazy’, shall we try to accurately pronounce it? ke LIKE!! heck!!”

Netizens who saw these gave a variety of response “Because of the cuss word controversy I listened to the song and it seems like that part is very addictive” “Really cute of L.Joe and Changjo to leave such words for fans who are worried”, “I don’t know why but I think there’re going to many parodies of this part”

Because of Super Junior’s Shindong’s fun image, he nearly became “Udon”, because of Junjin’s strong
image he nearly became “Lee Gigo (I want to win)”. On the 13th on Strong Heart, SM Entertainment’s
method of naming was revealed. Ahn Chilhyun became “Kangta”, Jung Pilkyo became “Shin Hyesung”;
these had a great effect in changing their image. Hence the unstylish original names resulted in the rise of
“Idols’ stage names” with H.O.T as the start.  It’s past the time of 4 syllabus names such as “Micky
Yoochun, Xiah Junsu”, now there’s a new way of naming to give a strong first impression. With the influx of
idols and their unique names, <10 Asia> will look into 7 of them and analyse them from the point of view of
the study of names and look into the future of the idols. But of course, you don’t necessarily have to believe
it.

CHUNJI-CHANGJO (TEEN TOP)

1)      Origin
Chunji being “the voice that shakes the heavens and the earth”, TEEN TOP’s (Teenz on Top means being
on top as teens or can be interpreted as their determination to stand on top as people in their 10s)
choreography as personally created by Changjo [To create]. When you add the 2 names together, it means
creation of the voice that shakes the heavens and the earth and choreography; it is the meeting of powerful
vocals and outstanding dance.

2)      Explanation
Chunji Changjo: 24 strokes (Korean words 천지창조) – (Rise on search charts)
Just like a lock and key, a thread and needle, it’s a name where they have to be together for them to shine
more brightly. The two cannot be satisfied with what they have currently, they need to continue to work
towards greater heights. If they work in harmony to complement each other by filling each other’
s weaknesses, the heavens (Chunji) will be stirred up allowing for the creation (Changjo) of a new history.
Eventually it’ll be smooth sail with honour and fortune.

3)      Advice
If they have a place of miraculous energy as base for their activities, they’ll have a bright future ahead. Also
, they are suitable be it Christian broadcasts or Catholic broadcasts, it is worth considering sampling or
remaking hymms.*

(This sentence in the article was confusing as well so please do not take offence in any way)

Teen Top's C.A.P became a hot topic for grabbing Changjo by the collar after Inkigayo's pre-rehearsal.

On the 6th, on SBS 'Inkigayo''s homepage, a picture of C.A.P grabbing Changjo by the collar could be seen.

On that day, Inkigayo\'s writer asked Teen Top to take a pose after finishing their pre-recording performance but seeing they became stiff, the writer asked for another pose and as a pose C.A.P suddenly grabbed Changjo by the collar.

Moreover, Ricky and Niel seeing the camera showed surprised, frightened poses etc, showing off their cuteness.
