Girls’ Generation’s recently released “Japan First Tour” DVD and Blu-ray have achieved a “double first” on the Oricon Weekly Charts.
According to the Oricon Charts, the DVD version of the “Japan First Tour” has placed first for the week of December 12th through the 18th in both the “Music DVD” category and in total DVDs sold. Since its release on December 14th, the DVD of Girls’ Generation’s successful concert tour in Japan has sold 69,000 copies.
The Blu-ray version of the “Japan First Tour” placed first for the “Music Blu-ray” category and second in total Blu-ray sales for the week. The Blu-ray, released at the same as the DVD, has to date sold 37,000 copies.
Girls’ Generation is the only foreign artist to place first on the Oricon Weekly Charts for both the “Music DVD” and “Blu-ray DVD” categories at the same time.

Both 2PM, and SMASH just released their latest single on November 2nd.
2PM latest single "Ultra Lover" managed to get #3, and
SMASH latest single "Step" managed to get #5.

Both group able to reach Top 5 despite other strong Japanese groups (Arashi, Perfume) also release their latest single on the same day.
And also Japan top idol group, AKB48, managed to stay strong on #4 with their latest single, "Kaze Wa Fuiteru" after a week since it's release.


Meanwhile, MBLAQ managed to reach #2 on Oricon Weekly Chart with their 2nd single "Baby U!"

Korean girl group Kara's best album has taken the No. 2 spot on the prestigious Oricon daily albums chart with their latest release.

According to the Oricon chart, the girls' record "Kara BEST 2007-2010", which went on sale in the country on September 29, came in second place with 18,223 copies sold, following behind Japanese songstress JUJU's album "Request", which went on sale the same day, with 19,974 copies.

Kara, who signed with Universal Music Group's sub-label Universal Music Sigma for their music activities in Japan, have made a successful debut into the country which came in May.

Their debut single album "Mister", which was released on August 11 in the country, earned them the title as the first Asian female group to place in the top 10 on the weekly singles chart, while their DVD titled "Kara VACATION" placed at No. 11, the highest rank for an Asian DVD to reach on the chart.

Known as one of the most popular girl groups in Korea, Kara splashed onto the local music scene in 2007 with their first album "Blooming" and have produced hits songs "Pretty Girl", "Wanna" and Lupin".

They will be releasing their second Japanese single in early November.

Korean rock band CNBLUE has placed at No. 6 on the prestigious Oricon daily music chart with their second single.

On Friday, the group's agency FNC Music announced in a press release that the single "I don't know why," which went on sale in the country yesterday, entered Oricon's daily singles chart at sixth.

"I don't know why," also the name of the album, features four tracks with the title track written by CNBLUE leader Jung Yong-hwa and the song "Lie" composed by member Jong-hyun.

The album also includes the instrumental versions of both songs.

The four-member band gave one of their three Japan concerts yesterday, in Osaka, and will be heading to Nagoya and Tokyo on September 18 and 20, respectively, for their shows.

CNBLUE (Code Name Blue) released two singles in Japan before breaking into the local music scene in January with their hit single "Alone" from their mini-album "Bluetory."

They unveiled their second mini-album "Bluelove" in May, which has fared well in Korea as well as Taiwan.

Girlgroup KARA is doing well up Japanese music chart Oricon chart and gaining popularity in Japan.

KARA’s first Japanese single title song ‘Mister’ is ranked #10 on Oricon daily chart on 5th September. It is just 5 days after the song first entered the chart top 10 rankings on 31st August. The girls have been climbing up the chart at a steady rate for about 1 month.

The girls were already given the green lights when they first entered the chart at #5 on the day ‘Mister’ was released which was on the 11th. Even though they had fallen down to the #29 rankings, with the great interests of Korean girlgroups, they have started climbing up the charts again.

Meanwhile, KARA has set a new record as a Korean girlgroup on Oricon charts. They had entered the weekly chart at #5 on the day of their single release as a foreign girlgroup, the last time another foreign girlgroup had entered at top 10 rankings was 30 years ago.

On the 25th, Bigbang showed off their huge popularity by ranking 7th on Japanese Oricon Weekly Chart with their 5th single “Beautiful Hangover” released in Japan.
“Beautiful Hangover” ranked 7th in the Japanese Oricon Weekly Chart. They sold about 25 thousand albums in the very first week. Bigbang has been consistently selling their single albums of 20-30 thousand copies in the first week, representing the huge popularity of the Korean idol group. Moreover, considering the new album has not been promoted widely compared to their last albums and it was a released-first single album, their result means much more than they expected. It is a good example of showing Bigbang’s stable fans and their presence in Japan.
Bigbang received the “Best New Artist Award” from Japan Cable Broadcasting Award and Japan Record Award last year. They also showed their popularity in Japan by receiving 3 prizes including the “Best Video of New Artist” from the “MTV World Stage Video Music Awards Japan” held last May in Japan.
However, Bigbang is planning to release a new Korean album in October or November. It is being reported they are working on their album these days. It has been almost 2 years since they released their last Korean album “Red Sunset Glow” in November 2008.
One of the officials of YG Entertainment said, “Bigbang will be releasing their new album in October or November. This album is produced by G-dragon, same as their existing albums. It is 80% complete now.”
