G-Dragon’s fans donated 20 million won, or roughly $20,000 USD, to a childcare hospital in Seoul on August 18th for the star singer’s 23rd birthday. The fan site, “Kwon Ji Yong’s Supporters,” said, “To celebrate G-Dragon’s 23rd birthday, we donated 12 million won ($12,000) for children suffering from rare diseases, and 8 million won ($8,000) to kids fighting heart diseases and hydrocephalus.”

“Since G-Dragon has already stated that he would not accept any birthday gifts, we are instead going to increase our donation efforts and raise awareness for the needy children, as we believe that’s what G-Dragon meant to say,” the fan site added.

G-Dragon made an offer to style Jeong Hyeong Don.

On July 13, it was mentioned on SBS’s broadcast of “Midnight TV Entertainment” that news stations had reported the flashmob events held at London’s Trafalgar Square last July 9th by fans whom requested YG entertainment to have their artists such as 2NE1 and Big Bang perform there.

Big Bang’s G-Dragon said, “I really like this feeling. Despite the fact that we haven’t performed there yet, we’ve been given a lot of love. My heart has become desperate if the opportunity of going to enjoy the stage with all of these people that want to, really came.”

Regarding Jeong Hyeong Don G-Dragon also said, “He’s not my rival. I’ve actually told Hyeong Dong hyung that if the opportunity ever comes up I’d like to style him.“

Following the massive kpop wave or also known as hallyu wave, kpop is spreading and growing more and more globally. And also just recently we reported about this consistent flashmobs happening widely around the globe.

In Mexico, TV Azteca, one of the biggest tv station in the country, featured news about Mexican fans getting involved into kpop movement.

Check this out:

This is actually not the first time that kpop was featured on the tv station, BigBang was also once featured on the same show.

It only shows that Kpop already invaded Mexico and like a contagious disease, other countries are also starting to have the so called kpop wave.

IU had recently been criticized for her lateness to the Dream High concert, and then her response to the criticisms. She had apologized for both of her actions, but her appearance on the 26th’s Show! Music Core has worried fans.

She seems to be on the verge of crying and looks very tired throughout the whole song. When fans saw this, they commented, “She doesn’t look too well,” “Are you still worried about the lateness incident?” and “I’m going to hope that you’re just trying to get into the mood of the song.”

Watch the performance below. Do you think she looks more tired than usual?

Title: Somehow, Today Gives Me The Feeling That This Year I Will Get A Lot Of Good Fortune*
Posted On: 11.02.03, at 21:58

Are you having a Happy New Year~~?
After a really long time I thoughtlessly ate and drank wine and I slept at midnight
And I woke up again so I watched TV and because I got bored I sang a little then I ate and cleaned up the room and I played games then I slept at 9
Then I woke up again so I ate and watched TV then I played games and this is Kyuhyun who after eating again became determined to write this note~**
When did I previously write a note~~? Thinking that I checked and it was almost 1 year ago… Ahahahaha
You know today I celebrated a pleasant birthday~~
Compared to Lunar New Year February 3rd is more important to me, it’s my birthday ㅎ.ㅎ
Obviously 2011 started not long ago.. It did
But before I knew it January quickly~ passed by and “The Three Musketeers” which I thought I couldn’t possibly handle was safely concluded as well
And it’s February
Being my birthday I also received gifts from many places.. I received greetings too and I got really a lot of letters as well
I settled down and I read just the letters for 5 hours and suddenly I had a thought
Who am I to have a lot of people love me so much and greet me like this..
Aside from the fans I’m unable to confidently receive recognition from a lot of people as a singer..
I’m in a stuation where I have a really long long way to go before reaching my goal..
But whether it’s at a concert or on stage or on some special day such as this it makes me slightly more self-reflective..
For the fans who acknowledge and love me who is so lacking
I’ll strive more and I’ll work harder and I’ll run more***~~
Happy New Year ^^
Oh right! I received the gifts thank you *^^* I wanted to upload a confirmation picture.. but I don’t know how to upload pictures here so I pass****
* In Korean, “Happy New Year” is 새해복많이받으세요, which could literally translate to “Receive a lot of good fortune in the new year”; so while he’s wishing you all a Happy New Year, he’s also making a comment about his own feelings about the New Year. The first sentence of the entry can thus be also read as “Are you receiving a lot of good fortune?”
** This entire paragraph was basically in the form of an adjective, translating it without adding punctuation or anything was painful.
*** To run more is just another expression to say he won’t slack off.
**** “Pass” in English.

As expected, those on "top" are always different and special.

Korea's top singer Lee Hyori has landed herself in the centre of attention yet again, and this time, with the Hong Kong locals.

On the 26th of this month, Hyori was in Hong Kong filming for a jeans commercial, thus causing the airport to become extremely crowded and difficult. However, despite all the commotion and danger, when an enthusiastic fan nearly tripped while attempting to run towards her, Hyori helped the fan and prevented him/her from falling. Hyori's warm-hearted action of putting her fans before herself touched the hearts of many and showed exactly how much she loves her fans.

The Hong Kong Press who witnessed the incident commented, "Ofcourse it is no surprise she is the most popular celebrity in Korea", and, "Most stars would have ignored such a thing and walked away but she is different. What a great person."

Netizens in Hong Kong have expressed similar views, "Not only does she have a beautiful face, but she also has a beautiful soul", and, "I have seen her often on Korean variety shows and found her to be very laid back. I always assumed her laid back and slightly manly image was just her concept but now I can see that her personality is real. She is very loveable."

Looks like our Pop princess has made us fall in love with her "Hyorish" ways yet again.

On the afternoon of the 8th in a theatre in Los Angeles. Caucasian female, Sarah (28), who was wearing a pink T-Shirt with “Soshified” written on it danced along to SNSD’s big hit “Gee”. Sarah is one of the 120,000 members of America’s SNSD fan community “Soshified”. She participated in the first planned Soshified meeting. 500 people from all over America came together to participate in this event. “Soshified” comes from SNSD’s abbreviation “Soshi” and the English world “Satisfied”.

— How do you sing the lyrics accurately?
“I really like K-POP and I’ve started to learn Korean. Right now, I memorize the lyrics by transcribing the Korean pronunciation into English.”

— Why is K-POP good?
“American pop is all over the world and it’s hard to enjoy it together, but anyone can easily enjoy K-POP, no matter what their age.”

Up until now, America is a place that Korean singers can’t overlook. American pop is just a “textbook” that Korean singers imitate. But, by the 2nd half of the 2000s, they began to challenge that. Rain (Bi), BoA, SE7EN have all stood on the American stage. Wonder Girls became the first ever Korean singers to appear on the Billboard Charts at 76.

Last September 15,000 American fans gathered in LA for the “SM Town Concert”. SNSD, Super Junior, SHINee and other SM Entertainment artists participated in the concert and the tickets to the performance were completely sold out one month before.

On this day at “Soshified”’s event location you could see people from various races. Black people, white people, Asian people, etc… were all present equally. SMUSA said, “Of those in attendance, more than half were Hispanic, white or some other non-Asian race”. At the event venue they played the Korean produced SNSD videos. The venue had cheers of joy as they watched the SNSD members dance and sing on the video. Uncle fans were also noticeable. In a lively voice they did the fan chants “SEO NYUH SHI DAE!”. With a moustache and long beard Grimmy (49) introduced himself, “I’m a long time SNSD uncle fan”.

— How did you come to know Korean girl groups?
“Through YouTube and other internet sites. But, not just SNSD, KARA and Secret too, I like mostly Korean girl groups.”

— Why do you like Korean girl groups?
“In American groups, it’s typical that only 1 member is noticed. In Korean girl groups, all of the members are charming. All 9 members are Beyonce in SNSD.”

They finished up the day by flying paper airplanes with what they would want to say to SNSD written on them. On Twitter they also expressed their wishes for SNSD in the “Tell me your wish” corner. The main way for K-POP to broaden and cross over from Asia into places like America and Europe is through YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and other global networks. Even though SNSD hasn’t debuted officially in America, they still have a large-scale fanclub such as this.

On the 13th in America’s Wall Street Journal they had a special feature and reported, “SNSD was successful in their Japan debut thanks to the PR efforts on YouTube. Using YouTube for PR doesn’t cost much at all and you could see the response in the market before their debut. Korean entertainment companies are being proactive with their YouTube usage.”

Big Bang’s Seungri is receiving a lot of attention for his witty apology to IU’s uncle fans.

Seungri uploaded onto his me2DAY on the 13th the following message: “You are like water for my parched self… and so, I’m happy – part of Seungri 1st MiniAlbum [VVip] 5th track duet I know with IU.” Seungri was promoting his duet ‘I Know’ which he sang with IU for his upcoming first solo mini album which will be release on the 20th.

Another eye-catching part of his me2day update was the tag that Seungri himself uploaded. On this tag, he attached ‘To IU’s uncle fans, I’m sorry Please understand She’s all the rage’ and extended his apologies to all the uncle fans who care so much for IU.

Further, he caused much laughter amongst fans when he attached another tag “Her ideal type Taeyang, Seungri just a regular oppa.”

IU’s duets with 2AM Im Seulong for ‘Nagging’, and Sung Si Kyung for ‘It’s You’ received top positions on the music charts, and she’s become the most requested female singer for duets so far.

A YG representative revealed their thoughts on IU’s duet with Seungri by stating “Over 3 years ago, before IU’s debut, she had a chance encounter with Big Bang. It was an opportunity for her to get acquainted with all the members, and in particular, Seungri suggested to IU ‘After you debut, let’s be sure to sing a duet together’,” and “Currently IU is receiving a flood of proposals for duets, and for her to agree to sing with Seungri means that she’s kept her promise.”

The representative further explained that “It’s not a harmony between husky and sweet voices, it’s a song that is refreshing to hear and is instead, a blend of two sweet voices coming together to create a new type of harmony. They are both of similar age and so were able to complete the recording in a comfortable manner.”

Not sure whether to post this here but since a lot of people are asking and talking about it and since there's a news article on it already, here's some quick info:

Yonghwa fans who were at a Night After Night recording were talking amongst themselves and said: "I can't see Yonghwa. I wish Daesung would get his head out of the way" and Daesung heard them so he moved his head and the fans laughed. Then in the end, Yonghwa and Daesung ended up changing spots. This was found out by Daesung fans when they saw it on a fan cafe and it was actually one of the moderators on the site that was saying this. The Yonghwa fans were saying stuff like "Haha I guess it's one of the privileges of having a lot of fans there". A few weeks back at a Night After Night recording some rude girls were scolding Daesung for something as well during a break in recording (even though they're people Daesung doesn't know).

Taeyang who held his solo concert ‘Solar’ in the Seoul Kyunghee University Peace center on 26th September, gave visuals and sound enjoyment to more than 4500 fans who attended the concert.

Normally on concerts, whenever the last song has been performed, fans usually will shout for “Encore” continously and the singer himself will return back on stage to perform his encore song. But this is not a rule for all singers, they can choose whether to add that segment or not.

On that day, after perfoming his last song ‘Only look at me’, Taeyang went to the backstage. Fans started shouting “Encore” and Taeyang‘s real name “Dong Young Bae”, to which Taeyang returned back to the stage to perform his encore songs “Where U at” and “Take It Slow”, showing his effort in performing….

The concert was supposed to end right after the encore songs, Taeyang helds hands with the dancers to give their last bow and went backstage, the screen facing the audience even showed “End”, but fans did not leave their seats, instead they started shouting again for “Encore”, hoping that Taeyang will come back for another encore performance.

It became real indeed, Taeyang once again returned to the stage, the atmosphere immediately went high, the fans were touched by Taeyang’s move. On the second encore stage, Taeyang performed “Only look at me” and “Take It Slow” again, telling the fans that it is really the last stage. Looking at the fans reaction, Taeyang’s eyes were filled with tears.

“Solar” concert which was meant to end in 2 hours, ended in 2 hours 30 minutes because of the double encore stage. Fans stood up while cheering and clapping for the success.

On our last post we discussed how popular Kara’s booty dance from their mister pv has become but if you watched one of the news clips provided you might have noticed how focused the camera was most of the times on the butts of the Kara girls.

And now netizens are buzzing all over the issue with one saying “I know Korea and Japan have a different atmosphere in the way they broadcast, but it’s sad to see them focusing on foreign female artist members’ bodies with their camera,” “It’s a broadcast that’s hard to see in Korea. Japanese broadcasts have no manners” and “After the broadcast, I was worried that the Japanese people who saw the girls will be known as a sexy girl group rather than a group known for their skills.”

But where there’s a negative there’s a positive as another wrote “When this is done in Korea, it’s ok but when it’s done in Japan, it’s wrong?“ and “There wasn’t anything wrong about this.”

BEAST's Doojoon apologize to fans in twitter, while Yoseob also apologize to fans in YOZM(T/N: Something like Korean twitter). BEAST Singapore fanbase has tweeted the reasons of the situation!

From : BEAST Singapore Fanbase
Annyeong! B2UTIES, that are a few of you asking us why Yoseob apologise to fans on yozm , and doojoon's tweet~

From what we know, we heard that B2UTIES bash and scold them especially on Yoseob's yozm that BEAST is too "good & intimitate with one of the emcee in Idol Maid.." But well, B2uties, you know that some variety show is scripted, even BEAST themselves can't control. However b2uties scolded them, and Doojoon had to ensure b2uties it's only boardcast in his tweet & Yoseob have to apologise to fans in Yozm.

Because of that , Yoseob & Dongwoon close down the diary section in their Cyworld. We felt upset hearing this.

And from what we know, the number of their fans drop since after this happened... We felt really upset. Cause we know that they care bout B2UTYS.

Let's Hope that fans will stop bashing them, and understand how they feel!
