On the 2nd of June, the company KT (President Lee Suk Chae) chose 200 users of their smartphone music service, Genie, to head to the Seoul Dongdaemun Doota Plaza. There, they showed off the "EXO-K with Genie, Augmented Reality (AR) Video Show."

This video was used as an experiment for Korea's first Augmented Reality show, showing off SM Entertainment's new boy group, EXO-K's charismatic images and performance on a 300-inch LED screen. With this technology, it was just like the experimenters were in the same space as EXO-K.

On this day, the guests of the Genie AR Video Show event were given the opportunity to take pictures with the Augmented Reality EXO-K members. Also, the members themselves made a surprise appearance, holding a fanmeet and a special performance, garnering the gratitude of the guests.

The new smartphone music service, Genie offers 3 playback services, 40 free downloads per month from their sponsors, and unlimited streaming services in their LTE WARP package, available for 4000 won per month. The president of SME, Lee Soo Man, together with the presidents of JYP and YGE, Park Jin Young and Yang Hyun Seok captured Top 3 spots on ‘Korea Pop Music Power Top 100’.
The Culture Planning Group collaborated with a publishing company to publish the 2nd issue of ‘Pop Music SOUND’ magazine which features a survey result of ‘Korea Pop Music Power Top 100’.
In 2007, the group has published a survey entitled, ‘Top 100 albums in Korea’. The list was made together with the press and music industry professionals. The celebrities listed in ‘Korea Pop Music Power Top 100’ was chosen based on poll, together with representatives from different institutions and media.
There were a total of 86 experts involved in the selection process and they were from different fields such as music critics, journalists, TV programme reporters, musicians, songs producers, and others.
The music industry is dominated by giant entertainment companies
The Top 3 spots of the chart are claimed by the presidents of the three entertainment companies. A staff said, “Lee Soo Man, Park Jin Young and Yang Hyun Seok’ are making the mainstream pop music for contemporary South Korea.”
He further elaborated, “In mid 90’s, there was a need for the entertainment companies who can connect the music industry with the broadcasting companies. The pop music of nowadays is well received because the presidents of these entertainment companies have come to term in collaborating with broadcasting stations.”
Singers Seo Taiji, Sin Joong Hyun and Jo Yong Pil captured the 5th, 7th and 8th spots.
In the survey, Seo Taiji is ranked 5th, when Shin Joong Hyun and Jo Yong Pil rank 7th and 8th. Regarding the ranking of idols, SNSD captured the 14th spot, followed by BIGBANG at 28th spot. Below them are DBSK (70th), 2NE1 (80th), BOA (92nd) just to name a few.

The public points out, “the only thing greed leaves is destruction… they need to draw a big picture”
On the 17th, the Seoul Central District dismissed all injunctions filled by SME against the court’s decision to suspend their contract with JYJ (Jaejoong, Yuchun, Junsu).
In response to the courts’ decision, SM Entertainment rebutted that “the legal battle between SM and JYJ isn’t finished. The courts’ recent decision is only on the injunctions and not on the invalidation of the contract between SM and JYJ.”
SM also claimed, “furthermore, the original lawsuit is still ongoing and the date for pleading the case will begin in mid-March. We will use the original lawsuit to objectively investigate the facts and the truth to prove the validity of our contract with JYJ.”
However, such statement from SM has increased criticism from K-Pop fans. The criticism comes from not only JYJ fans, but also the general public, putting more pressure on SME. Most opinions stems from the belief that SM needs to look at the bigger picture.
The harshest criticisms against SM comes especially from social networking sites.
In response to SM’s feeble attempt to reduce the significance of the courts’ recent ruling, a twitter member (Twitterian) pointed out that “SM, like its name (Sadistic and Masochistic) will continue to torture JYJ.” A different  member sarcastically claimed, “SM is a stalker management company.“
Movie critic Professor Shim YoungSup also tweeted, “Will SM faithfully carry out the courts’ decision? If SM continues to hold back JYJ and refuse to follow the courts’ order, couldn’t fans file another lawsuit against SM?“
One Tweeterian emphasized, “even the large boulder get cracks and break when water drops continue to fall on it. I believe today’s decision by the courts will not only break the boulder known as SM, but also become the cornerstone for making a cleaner kpop industry.”
In various sites, Netizens pointed out, “instead of only seeing celebrities as products, we need attitudes that respect the worth and rights of celebrities.” Furthermore, they claimed “increasing greed only leads to destruction. We hope SM, one of Korea’s representative management company, will not foolishly continue to grow the public’s mistrust with their myopic vision.“
Besides such opinions, voices criticizing SM’s antiquated patriarchal leadership and opinions pointing out the  urgent need to structurally reorganize the entertainment industry caught our attention. Views claiming the need to introduce effective new management methods to change the entire system also raised numerous heads.

Last week, we posted about SHINee's Jonghyun not being able to participate in some performances during SHINee's concert.

Jonghyun also revealed through a message he posted that there are some songs where the dance segments will be undertaken by a trainee from SMENT. Jonghyun further explained that the hoobae, Shin is a Chinese and that his skills are really good so everyone need not worry. Jonghyun stated that Shin will only be taking his place until his leg recovers and Shin will be helping SHINee out for the dance performances during the Japan and Korea concerts.

Super Junior Kyuhyun, SHINee Jonghyun, Trax, Jay and rookie Jino aged 18 formed a ballad group. SM announced this good news on the 19th November, also releasing the new album name “Missing You This Much” and that this album will be release on the 26th November.

Artistes from SM as well as outside SM has participated in SM the Ballad, in order to create better ballad songs. Super Junior Kyuhyun, SHINee Jonghyun, Trax Jay and rookie Jino participated in this album’s creation, Jino has been training at SM for 2 years, and he will debut along with the release of the album.
