Production company Egg Films which produced the movie “The Classic” submitted an application of injunction for the prohibition of broadcasting or disposing of the drama “Love Rain”, against production company Yoon’s Color, the Korea Broadcasting System and KBS Media Corporation on the 31st last month.

A legal representative of Egg Films revealed, “Not only did the drama ‘Love Rain’ infringement the copyright of the movie ‘The Classic’ in terms of detailed summary, development of the story and mutual relationship between the characters in the story, the scenes that play an important role in expressing the characters internal emotions and lead the synopsis have been used without notice. Therefore, we have requested for a seizure of the drama for infringement matters with proof to the production and broadcasting company.”

To the request of explanation for the action of infringement of copyright, the production’s legal representative pointed out, “The summary that the man has to part with his lover for his friendship with his friend and the woman who misses him overlaps with their children’s love in the future as they carry on the unfinished love of their parents first of all is similar to the movie. The overall spread out and structure of the drama as well as certain scenes have been repeated in this drama.”

The legal representative continued, “The similar storyline, structure and scenes have just been replaced with characters and situations which are also very much alike and this can’t be anything else but infringement of copyright.”

Meanwhile, “Love Rain” is about to be an issue even in Japan as it’s looking forward to airing in Japan as well.

In the grand final of KBS 2TV Monday and Tuesday drama “Love Rain” aired on May 29th, 2012, Seo In Ha (Jung Jin Young) and Kim Yoon Hee (Lee Mi Sook), together with Seo Joon (Jang Geun Suk) and Jung Ha Na (YoonA) stage different ending, satisfying own friendship and love.

Jang Geun Suk who has been playing the role of Seo In Ha of 1970s and Seo Joon in 2012 since autumn of 2011 said, “I feel that I have experience a long love beginning from 1970s to 2012. Yoona, who starred in KBS 2TV’s Monday-Tuesday drama, “Love Rain”, (script by Oh Sooyeon, directed by Yoon Sukho), talked with Star News on May 30th through SM Entertainment. She said, “During ‘Love Rain’, I reflected on myself and considered it to be valuable time.”

Yoona continued, “It’s been a while since I was in a drama. ‘Love Rain’ is a drama that has allowed me to experience a lot of different emotions which I couldn’t feel before in my previous works. But above all, it was good to have time to reflect on myself once more.”
Yoona also mentioned, “I was even happier that I got to work with good actors and staff. I will try my best to grow and improve for everyone.”
She also said to the viewers, “Thank you so much to those who showed their support for ‘Love Rain’.” She told them, “Look forward to Yoona’s different image,” adding that, “She will become a more mature actress.”
The last episode of “Love Rain” aired on the May 29th, which brought a conclusion to the love story between Jang Geunsuk and Yoona’s characters, Seo Joon and Jung Hana.

KBS 2TV drama series “Love Rain” ended miserably with low single-digit viewership ratings.

According to AGB Nielson Media Research, the final episode of “Love Rain” aired on May 29th, 2012 achieved the ratng of 5.9%. Although it’s an increase of 0.6% over the previous episode, but it still couldn’t get rid of single-digit audience ratings, concluded with the result of lowest ranking among Monday and Tuesday drama.

In the last episode, Seo In Ha (Jung Jin Young) and Kim Yoon Hee (Lee Mi Sook) end the romance between them for the sake of their children, while Seo Joon (Jang Geun Suk) and Jung Ha Na (YoonA) are finally tie the knot, welcoming the happy ending.

On the other hand, broadcasting at the same time slot, MBC’s “Lights and Shadows” rated 20.5% while SBS’s “The Chaser” rated 9.9%.

Jang Geun Suk and YoonA shared a last deep kiss.

In the final episode of the KBS 2TV drama “Love Rain”, Jang Geun Suk and YoonA shared a sweet kiss, giving joy to those viewers who supported them.

Ha Na’s mother Yoon Hee (Lee Mi Sook) left for America to support their love and to get treatment for her eyes. Ha Na came back a year later after being by her mom’s side.

Joon sweetly told Ha Na that he missed her but Ha Na was upset that he didn’t come to get her at the airport. The two kissed soon after.

Viewers were thrilled by this scene as it was higher rated than the fountain kiss that had everyone talking once.

Girls’ Generation’s YoonA expressed her gratitude towards the staff of ‘Love Rain’ through a meaningful gift.

On May 29th, a post entitled ‘YoonA’s gift in conjunction with the last filming’ with photos attached was published on an online community board.

In the photos revealed, the gifts were presented by YoonA to the staff of ‘Love Rain’ at the final shooting of the Monday-Tuesday drama. YoonA’s actual past photos made an appearance on KBS 2TV’S drama ‘Love Rain’ which was aired on May 28th.

In this episode, ahead of her eye surgery, Kim YoonHee (played by Lee MiSook) flipped through a photo album with pictures of her daughter Jung HaNa (played by YoonA) when she was still a child.

Filled with the fear of losing her eyesight, Kim YoonHee who was looking at the photos of her daughter said, “I will keep all these in my mind. I think I’ll be missing them a lot”. During this sad scene, the pictures in the photo album caught the attention of the viewers. These photos of ‘Little Jung HaNa’ were actually the real photos of YoonA when she was still a child. “The actor who multiplies that value 10 billion times.”

Actor Jang Geun Suk has proven his strong power. On the eve of the grand finale of KBS2 Monday and Tuesday drama “Love Rain” starring by him, he makes the calculator very busy. Counting only broadcasting rights export fees and advertising sales, the totaled amount exceeded 50 billion South Korean won (about 42.8 million US dollar). Comparing with national average viewership ratings of 5% (based on AGB Nielson media research), the result rises by 10 billion times.

“Love Rain” is the drama starring by Jang Geun Suk who is known as “new Hallyu” and “Star of Asia.” It has received the attention of overseas markets at a very early stage. The drama is exported to Japan before the broadcast began for about 9 billion South Korean won (about 7.7 million US dollar), setting the highest record domestically for about 4500 million South Korean won per episode (about USD $385000 per episode).

At the same time, the drama is exported to 12 countries including China, Thailand, other Asian countries, United States and some European countries. It’s speculated that excluding Japan, the per episode price for the export contract signed is about 110 million South Korean won (about USD $94,150). Thus, with 12 countries and 20 episodes, the amount tallies to 36 billion South Korean won (about 30.82 million US dollar) value of export, plus Japan’s 9 billion South Korean won totaled 45 billion South Korean won (about 38.5 US dollar) sales volume.

At the same time, advertising revenue cannot be ignored. According to an official of AGB Nielson Media Research company in the phone interview with Sports Hankooki, “The ads were completely sold in episode 1 and 2, were sold 90% in episode 3 and 4, and were sold 80% from episode 5 to episode 18.”

“Love Rain” is selling each ads at about 13.2 million South Korean won (about USD $11300) for the 28 advertising slots of each episode. If assuming the ads selling rate for episode 19 and 20 is also 80%, and total number of ads slots is 456, and advertising sales revenue is hitting 6 billion South Korean won (about 5.12 million US dollar).

An official of KBS drama bureau said in the phone interview with Sports Hankooki, “It’s all thanks to Jang Geun Suk and Girls’ Generation member YoonA who are in the center of K-Pop euphoria, only that it’s a pity for the low viewership ratings.”

Jang Geun Suk is filming the TV series until May 28th, 2012. After the end of the drama, he will begin his overseas activities. The first Japanese album “Just CRAZY” is planned, and the “The Cri Show2″ concert tour is scheduled to begin in July in Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand and other Asian countries.

According to AGB Nielsen Media Research, the 50th episode of the MBC drama “Light and Shadow” aired on the 15th rated 22.8%. This is 1% higher than the previous episode, solidifying its position atop the ratings.

The 18th episode of SBS “Fashion King” rated 9.5% and the 16th episode of “Love Rain” rated 5.2% which is 0.8% lower than the previous episode.

Girls’ Generation made a guest appearance in “Happy Together” to tell their interesting stories.

KBS popular drama “Love Rain” made it overseas.

“Love Rain” has been sold over to Japan, China, Hong Kong Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore and other American and European countries.

“Love Rain” is being welcomed in these countries for it uses the 'term' love which is a common value in all the countries that has been explained in the Korean way.

Currently shown on the KBS World Channel, “Love Rain” is doing tremendously well. On the worldwide video website Youtube, “Love Rain” with various subtitles is hitting high number of hits.

An official of the production company Yoon’s Color says, "It has been sold to Asia, the Americas and Europe. Everyone is happy at the good news are working extremely hard".

Meanwhile, “Love Rain” will be aired twice a week on Japanese cable TV KN TV and Fuji TV in July.

Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany confessed that she watched fellow member Yuri’s drama “Fashion King” over YoonA’s “Love Rain”.

On the recent recording of KBS’s “Happy Together 3” to be aired on May 10th, Tiffany revealed that she watches Yuri’s drama, “Fashion King.”
