For the fifth installment of his letter on YG-Life blog, YG Entertainment boss, Yang Hyun Suk, announced details of Big Bang’s G-Dragon’s solo album.

According to the post, G-Dragon will be returning with another self-produced album this year, in time of his upcoming birthday. His album is already drawing interest as popular female rapper, Missy Elliot, will be featured in it.

The post says:
When will G-Dragon be releasing his solo album?

On August 18 2009, G-Dragon released his first solo album with the celebration of his 21st birthday.
This year, he is planning to unveil another solo regular album on the same date as 4 years ago.

Just like the first album, he will be in charge of composing and writing every song, plus the album production.
The album will consist of 10 songs.

This weekend marks the finale of his grand solo World Tour. For the past few months
G-Dragon has been performing 25 times around the world, and the ending will be held in Singapore.
As soon as he crosses the finish line of his World Tour, he will be devoting his whole energy on another project,
which includes his album jacket shooting and wrapping-up process of his 2nd solo regular album.

His 2nd regular album is like pulling out a diamond from a treasure box
because the album was already in the process of making when a mini album was released last September.

What is special about G-Dragon’s 2nd solo album?

With the 2nd solo album, what we decided to do was to have one legendary foreign artist
feature in it rather than have several. There were many male rappers on the list,
but what YG was looking for was a female rapper – and there was just one. We found the answer so quickly
and we were unanimous on choosing this artist.

And she is – Missy Elliott.

If you know a tiny bit about hip-hop, you would know this legendary artist.
I feel that an introduction of her is unnecessary as everyone knows her, so here’s a very simple background.
She is a hip-hop legend who produced a huge number of big hits that set her apart from other artists.
If you are unfamiliar with hip-hop, just take a peek of her songs “Get Ur Freak On” and “Work It” on YouTube,
and you will recognize her in a matter of seconds.

Missy Elliott partnered with Timbaland, and their amazing synergy produced the following songs:
1997 – SUPA DUPA FLY (Album): “The Rain”
2001 – MISS E… SO ADDICTIVE (Album): “Get Ur Freak On” and “One Minute Man”
2002 – UNDER CONSTRUCTION (album): “Gossip Folks” and “Work It”
2005 – The Cook Book (album): “Lose Control”
These songs put her on a global stardom, and the musicians she teamed up with also include
top-notch artists like 50 Cent, Jay Z., Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, and Mary J. Blige.
But unfortunately she had to stop everything abruptly for health reasons,
which halted all music related activities including releasing another album.

This is why it was extra difficult for G-Dragon to ask her to feature in his song.

For the last several months, YG has spared no effort in asking Missy Elliott to feature in G-Dragon’s song.
We have been sending her G-Dragon-related information including his songs. And finally,
we were able to win her interest for G-Dragon’s creativity and music, and now she will be
featuring in G-Dragon’s new solo album.

Any more details on the song featuring Missy Elliott?

This track is a song by YG’s main producer, Teddy, that has a very unique hip-hop beat like
other Missy Elliott’s tracks. Missy Elliott and G-Dragon exchanged ideas extensively over the phone,
and they decided that G-Dragon would come up with the lyrics and rap for demonstration,
which will be given to Missy Elliott in the U.S., who will then add her own rap to complete the song.

G-Dragon’s song featuring the female hip-hop legend breaks away from the convention
with a hint of Korean taste. The tinge of a voice sample from a Korean traditional folk song “Nilliliya”
makes it a one-of-a-kind, classy hip-hop track.

Diplo, the world-renowned DJ and a songwriter, who has been part of ‘Knock Out’,
will also be participating in this album.

I will come back with more details on G-Dragon’s album and a track list soon!

When will Taeyang announce his solo album plans?

To be continued… see you all tomorrow!

The strict head of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyunsuk, revealed his affectionate feelings towards 2NE1 who came back recently on the 5th. He expressed that he was “hurt” because he couldn’t pay as much attention as he wanted to to 2NE1′s comeback.

On this day, he told OSEN “These days when I see 2NE1, it pains me. Usually when artists from our company make a comeback, starting from a few months before the comeback I would spend day and night, sleep and eat with them, and take care of them. However this time I couldn’t do that for 2NE1.”

Starting last year from December, till this April, Yang Hyunsuk was a judge on SBS ‘K-Pop Star’ representing YG, and had undergone an extremely busy schedule for the first half of the year. In addition to a lot of overlapping schedules at the company, the time he spent on 2NE1 seemed somewhat short.

He revealed, “After so long, 2NE1 is making a comeback in July, when so many other artists are coming back. Especially at this time when it’s really a ‘comeback boom’ I should have taken better care of 2NE1, but I feel terribly sorry that I was unable to do so.”, “So during the last week, I cancelled all my plans and just stayed with 2NE1 throughout and personally monitored their choreography and singing, etc.”

He added, “To our 2NE1 members who are like daughters to me, I feel both sorry and thankful. To the extent that I was unable to pay as much attention to them, till the end of this year, it’s my plan to wholeheartedly focus on 2NE1 till the end of this year.”

Not only just the 2NE1 members, but Yang Hyunsuk has not forgotten the fans supporting these girls either. In regards to the fans who are always supporting the girls, he promised “To the fans as well, I’m terribly sorry. In order to repay you guys, I will work harder for 2NE1.”

Yang Hyunsuk is planned to participate as a judge in the second half of the year as well on ‘K-POP Star 2′. He has been ridiculously busy not only due to the discussions for this upcoming program, but also because of several internal issues at the company. He stated “I’ve been too busy to even rest lately because of work at the office. However when I was with 2NE1, I tried not to appear tired. This is because I didn’t want to give any trouble to 2NE1.”, “This past week with 2NE1, every second spent working on the comeback was worth it.”, displaying his affectionate feelings for 2NE1, as well as increasing the anticipation for their comeback.

Mean while, 2NE1 released a music video teaser for their song ‘I Love You’ at midnight today. The music video teaser added a sexier feeling to 2NE1′s charismatic music, and displayed their even more matured charm. 2NE1 is planning to make their first comeback on the 8th on Inkigayo.

In addition, they will be holding their Seoul concerts on the 28th and 29th that will kick off their world tour, ‘New Evolution’.

YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk (43) publicly declares that he doesn’t find 2NE1 pretty.

On the 21st, Yang Hyun Suk appeared as the guest on the SBS show, “Healing Camp.” When asked by the show MCs, “What criteria do you have in choosing artists?” the YGE CEO replied with, “The rumors that I did not look at appearances when choosing 2NE1 and Big Bang are not true, in reality, I do look at appearance also. During auditions I also look at their appearance, aside from the voices,” he confessed.

Comparing them to other girl groups, the looks of YG’s girl group, 2NE1, is surely different, and he says that he is aware of the comments. In fact, Yang Hyun Suk said, “It’s true that 2NE1 are not pretty,” he said in his frank manner, drawing laughter from the MCs. He went on to say that, “In fact, 2NE1 members are not tall, and they don’t have average pretty faces. But more importantly, I think they’re cool.“

He goes on to say, “I think that a cool person is better than just being pretty,” he said, “2NE1′s CL and Gong Minzy have charisma. It’s cool. It’s my style,” he confirmed.
