The year 2012 had been a year of high activity from the male actors for SBS dramas.

Behind popular dramas such as “A Gentleman’s Dignity”, “Rooftop Prince”, “The Chaser”, and “Ghost”, etc, are top male actors who possesses both acting skills and high popularity.

These people with their presence as the male lead and acclaimed acting skills play the role of bringing the drama’s completion to a greater level. Their high activity has successfully enabled (the drama’s) wide popularity, and thus there are greater expectations towards their future acting endeavours.

Just in year 2012 alone, we had the small-screen comeback of Korean Representative Flowerboy, Jang Donggun; displaying good appearance not as a member of idol group JYJ, but as an actor, Park Yoochun; receiving high praises from the audiences for his acting skills of great depth, Sun Hyunjoo; displaying his confirmed presence through charismatic acting, So Jisub, etc, and in SBS dramas, there is high activity from a variety of male actors.

Park Yoochun – Breaking the bias against idols, blooming into a flower as an actor

Park Yoochun had been active with drama “Rooftop Prince” by being a meritorious contributor towards its success in popularity; displaying greater sense of presence not as a singer, but as an actor.

Park Yoochun had previously went from sageuk to modern drama freely through “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and “Miss Ripley”, and continued his activities as an actor, winning praises not as a singer but as an actor. Through fusion sageuk “Rooftop Prince”, he exhibited a different image, and as an actor, he furthered his preparations for opportunities to progress by being one step forward.

Especially his sweet portrayal of a deep love story with partner Han Jimin, at the same time sculpting the comic image of a Crown Prince from Joseon arriving in modern Seoul, which presented both humour and heartfelt emotions.

Currently, not just as a singer, Park Yoochun has also won himself a place as an actor, and we expect greater future activities.

Jang Dong Gun was one of the most-searched keywords in China yesterday, following reports of the plummeting value of property the actor purchased last year.

Portal Web sites like Baidu featured keywords such as “Jang Dong Gun” and “real estate investment” side-by-side after news broke last week of Jang’s property decreasing in value.

On July 13, Korean conglomerate research firm Chaebol.com listed the value of properties owned by well-known public figures.

The Web site said the building Jang purchased in June 2011 for 12.6 billion won ($11 million) had depreciated to just 3.4 billion won. Chinese media called Jang a “rookie” investor, telling readers that entertainers often make similar mistakes.

Meanwhile, Jang is in the spotlight in Korea because of his starring role in the hit drama “A Gentleman’s Dignity.”

Last year, the Hallyu actor starred in the blockbuster movie “My Way,” directed by Kang Je-gyu.

Jang Dong Gun has appealed to the viewers with his visual and talents despite the fact that he plays the role of a 'useless’ middle-aged man.

The actor returned with the SBS drama “A Gentleman’s Dignity” for the first time in 12 years. As much as producer Sin Woo Cheol and writer Kim Eun Sook put their efforts into casting him, Jang Dong Gun’s come back was of important interest for a while. Many were interested to see his come back with a drama but more to see if he would still have the same affect on people like he did before. So far until the second episode, he seems to be doing alright, playing the nucleus role and showing off his perfect ‘visual’.

Jang Dong Gun’s lines have already started becoming a trend now. Taking on the role of Kim Do Jin, a proud and bad tempered architect, his cheeky remarks and speaking tone has the ladies swooning over him already. He has all the qualities of a “Bad Guy”.

The actor was popular in various youth dramas in the 1990s. Those who remember him then would know that his top star review came from his reliable base from the past in dramas. He then stepped into the movie industry for an expansion in his career and until this day he has been focusing on his filmography.

He is quenching the thirst of many fans through this drama. It is the fist time he’s been in one since the year 2000. Many of those who weren’t always his fans but curious of his power are also nodding their heads.

Jang Dong Gun is still ‘cool’ after all these years. He married beauty actress Ko So Yeong and became a father of a child but he is still ‘cool’.
