IU and Kim Yuna’s duet song, entitled “Ice Flower,” is the joint-work of Lee Min-su and Kim Ina, both of whom are hit songwriters in Korea. The latest duet song is highly expected to dominate public mind following such the songs Lee and Kim jointed wrote as: “Nagging,” and “Good Day”

This is not the first duet experience for both IU and Kim Yuna: IU has paired up with 2AM’s Im Seul Ong, Seong Si Kyeong and Yu Seung Ho; Kim also kept in tune with Lee Seung Gi and Park Jung Hyun. That means that “Ice Flower” is the result of the joint-work of the most experienced players in creating a duet song. All the profit from song downloads are planned to be used for the development of figure skating.

The participating musicians included Next’s proven guitarist Kim Se Hwang, who presented his amazing solo guitar performance, driving the song to its climax, and Born Again’s renowned bass guitarist Seo Jae Hyuk, who also significantly enriched the song. Aware of the cause of the song, the two musicians gladly agreed to participate in the work despite their hectic schedule.

The music video of “Ice Flower” is likely to hold much attention as well, which features the recording images of the two popular stars, as well as the performing scenes of the participating celebrities in Kiss And Cry, a figure skating competition reality show.

Kim Yuna and IU released the theme song for SBS skating show ''Kiss & Cry''. We had reported that IU and Kim Yuna are collaborating for a duet titled ''Ice Flower'' as the theme song for ''Kiss & Cry''.

This song is composed by Lee Min Soo who is also the composer of IU's Good Day and Nagging, Brown Eyed Girls' Abracadabra and Sign also Adam Couple's We Fell In Love. Thus, check out the song ''Ice Flower'' below.

It has been decided that the theme for the next contest on 'Kiss and Cry' will be "Dance, Dance".

On the June 12th broadcast of the show, the theme was "Couple" and the participants skated to a variety of dance songs, thus based on this, the decision was made for the theme of the next set of performances. The PD of 'Kiss and Cry' said, "Following this theme, the writers will work together with each of the participating teams to come to an agreement regarding the song choice and stage format." 

Also, the total score from the "Couple" and "Dance, Dance" contests will determine the first contestant to be eliminated from the show. Kim Jae Hyuk PD explained, "As the first contest was held not long after the couples met up for the first time, they may not have been able to showcase the best that they can do. The second contest will provide a chance for them to prove themselves again and for every following contest after that, contestants will slowly be eliminated." However, it has not be decided yet how many teams will be eliminated each time, during the 5 rounds of contests. (*Note: There are 10 teams in all)

Meanwhile, for every contest, the judges will keep changing and have not been confirmed yet, while the theme song for the show, 'Ice Flower', sung by MC Kim Yuna and IU is scheduled to be released on the June 19th broadcast. Also, after the June 12th broadcast, which featured performances by Yunho, Krystal, Kim Byung Man, Park Jun Geum, IU and others, Kim Byung Man received positive feedback for his excellent performance despite his ankle injury, and IU also received positive comments for her great improvement and dedication to figure skating practice.

In the SBS “Kim Yuna’s Kiss&Cry” to be broadcasted on June 12th, compared to the charm he showed off through his previous dance performance, Uknow Yunho attempted something new, transforming into the charismatic man Danny from the musical “Grease”

It has been revealed that IU is immersing herself in intensive figure skating practice, in order to recover her tarnished reputation.

As reported earlier, in the last episode of SBS "Kiss and Cry", broadcasted on May 29th, the rankings of the 10 stars on the cast were announced. IU, still unfamiliar with the sport, ended up in last place.

She is currently in the middle of intensive training and on May 27th, she was found practising under her new training programme at an ice rink in Gyeonggi-do. Unsatisfied with her poor showing after the first broadcast, apparently she now undergoes intensive practice sessions lasting almost five hours long every time.

IU said, "Yesterday during practice, I was using muscles that I seldom use usually, so my inner thigh muscles are aching a lot. But I can't afford to be negligent with my practice, right?", showing her professional side.

Someone close to IU revealed, "IU's personality is such that there has to be a clean finish before she goes on to her next task," and that during training, it's worrying that she is so absorbed that she doesn't eat or drink a single drop of water.

Furthermore, her partner, whom she will be putting up a couple performance with, showed great confidence and said, "During the next contest that will be broadcasted, you will witness a transformation of IU beyond recognition."

"Kiss and Cry"'s PD, Kim Jae Hyuk, also said, "IU is working hard to prove as much as she's worth and she's making good progress. I hope the audience will provide her with some warm support."

'Figure skating Queen' Yuna and 'Hot Trend' IU, Korea's two 'national little sisters' will be showing their 'dorky dance' on broadcast for the first time.

On a recent recording of SBS 'Kiss and Cry', Kim Yuna used her own choreography and invited David Wilson as a special coach, to give everyone, including the 10 stars on the show, a lesson on expressiveness.

In order for everyone to improve on their expressiveness, an important skill in figure skating, a method Yuna herself adopted during training was used and a 'dorky dance' lesson was carried out, with everyone dancing freestyle to the music being played.

To make it less awkward for the 10 stars, Kim Yuna personally demonstrated her 'dorky dance' and her easy-going and adorable dorky dance brought about a cordial atmosphere in the recording studio.

IU, who usually only performs choreographed dances on stage, said hesitatingly, "Until now, I've never had to do dorky dances on broadcasts." However, together with the rest of the cast, everyone moved their bodies to the music and rhythm happily and drew rounds of applause from those present.

Meanwhile, on the variety show "Kim Yuna's Kiss and Cry", the 10 stars will pair up with professional skaters and through several rounds of contest, some will be eliminated while the best team will participate on "Kim Yuna's Ice show" in August.

During the first broadcast on May 22nd, Yunho, Krystal and other performers showcased their figure skating skills. For the 2nd broadcast on May 29th, the remaining stars will perform and everyone's results as well as partners, etc. will be announced.

IU's first original composition, "Hold My Hand", was previously reported as receiving a lot of attention for its all-kill on the major online music charts.

Even before the track was released, it was a hot issue and once the track was made available, in just 2 days, it topped the charts of various music sites and achieved an all-kill.

Cho Young Cheol Producer from IU's agency, Loen Entertainment, expressed, "IU is no prodigy, she is constantly putting in effort. With her rising popularity and schedules flooding in, it would be normal for her to feel slightly lazy to put in new efforts, but the amount of effort that IU puts in to compose songs by herself is remarkable."

"Although there are many areas that she is still lacking in, IU herself is well aware of that and working extra hard as a result. That's the reason I'm looking forward to IU's progress in future," he added.

SBS 'Kim Yuna's Kiss and Cry' (also 'Ki and Cr' / KiCr)'s Kim Jae Hyuk PD commented on IU's lack of practice. 'KiCr' is a program whereby 10 artists skate and perform on ice. The last episode on the 22nd was the first broadcasting after 3 months of practice. Without any special skills, IU took a stand and gave a simple performance. After the broadcast, there were comments that "IU had a busy schedule and was unable to practice very much".

Regarding this issue, Kim Jae Hyuk PD commented, "IU really worked hard. With a 24/7 busy and filled schedule to handle, she is already doing her best," and "the program aims to focus not just on the results but also on the efforts that the performers put in behind their performances". That is to say, the program does not intend to display only good skating but to show how much effort and practice pays off, and in a different environment. Kim Jae Hyuk PD also said, "This program also shows anyone can enjoy it as an exercise. To show this wide age range, we also got Park Joon Keum and Jin Ji Hee to join us. Although the upcoming results will reflect everyone's best efforts, they will also show how the cast has enjoyed the process".

During the past 24 days of filming, Kim Jae Hyuk PD said, "Everyone on the film set, will be doing their best and practicing hard together with their partners. In particular, IU, Jin Ji Hee and Suh Ji Suk, even had rivalry forming between them," and, "they would playfully say things like, 'I can't lose to that person' as they had fun during filming". He revealed that of higher importance than coming in first place was that in the actual process during practice, the cast members develop their character and forge closer relationships with one another.

Meanwhile, "Kiss and Cry" judges (drama, musical specials) change every five times. Not only skating but the music, drama [NOTE: acting, performance], and even dance is an important consideration to be evaluated by the judges.

Singer IU took up the harsh challenge of figure skating and appeared on the show SBS “Kiss and Cry”, which was broadcasted on May 22nd.

Entering the ice rink wearing a cute pink dress, she sang “Good Day” and showed off her body wave to the tune of Aqua’s “Cartoon Heroes”, even falling to her knees in the middle of the performance. However, she got up right away and cheerfully made a heart sign with her arms above her head as the finishing touch to her performance.

After the show was broadcasted, some netizens gave comments regarding IU’s lack of practice, such as, “There’s probably a reason behind why IU scored the lowest” and “It’s a pity that the stage was less than perfect”.

On May 23rd, Newsen spoke on the phone with a representative from IU’s agency, LOEN Entertainment, who revealed, “In the last couple of months, IU had a lot of schedules. Despite having to deal with killing schedules both overseas and locally, IU practised figure skating passionately and enthusiastically. She wakes up early in the morning to go to the practice room and when she returns late at night, quite often she drags her fatigued body to the practice room again.”

“Although it’s true that compared to the rest, she had less time to practise figure skating, IU practised in her spare time and it’s regrettable that her efforts were not recognised. In future, she will continue to do her best for the show.”

Meanwhile, the show had its first broadcast on May 22nd and has received warm feedback from the audience, including “I can tell the idols are sincerely putting in effort and that touched me more than any other entertainment program”, “It’s good to see that the idols are trying hard despite their busy schedules” and “I’m looking forward to the future transformations of the idols”.
