Girls' Generation’s sub-unit Taetiseo and female soloist Son Dambi have been revealed to be the guest judges for the upcoming ‘Superstar K4’.

On August 6th, Mnet’s ‘Superstar K4’ posted on its official Twitter, “Superstar K4 taken part by the army~ They did a good deed! The judges are Girls’ Generation! TaeTiSeo!!! The army must have shown crazy heat??? Watch the crazy heat on August 17th! Watching the broadcast~ must be fun right?”

The included photo showed the Season 4’s official judges Lee Seung Chul and Psy, alongside Son Dambi and Girls’ Generation - TaeTiSeo’s Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun seated outdoors with an army helicopter in the background.

Lee Ha Neul, an entertainer and rapper from ’90s boy band DJ Doc, is set to stage a television comeback after some seven months out of the spotlight.

The 41-year-old singer will take part in the program “Super Star K” as it kicks off its fourth season.

“Lee will take part as a judge at the preliminary auditions to take place in Seoul on July 15,” said a representative from the singing-audition show.

The show’s representatives have been trying to convince Lee to take part since May and finally succeeded in persuading the star. Lee played a similar role as a judge during the show’s previous seasons.

Of late, the former boy band member has been inactive after he was embroiled in a defamation lawsuit brought on by an ex-bandmate.

Lee and Kim Chang-ryul were sued by Park Jung-hwan for joking on a TV show last year that Park leaving the band was attributed to his “terrible voice.”

Park was angered and sued his former bandmates for tarnishing his name.

“Superstar K” is back and has more than 2 million applicants as the show prepares for its fourth season.

The number of applications was the most ever for an audition show and caught Mnet by surprise. “We thought we’d not exceed the 1,970,000 mark, which is how many we had for season three,” said a network representative.

“Basically, since we opened applications March 8, we’ve had 18,867 people apply per day.”

The network attributes the phenomenal amount of interest to its various initiatives to look for talent.

As well as the usual online registrations, CJ E&M allowed applicants to register via KakaoTalk and at various karaoke venues.

The success of previous contestants, such as Busker Busker and Ulala Session, is also thought to have fueled aspiring hopefuls in signing up.

Meanwhile, the show’s judges Lee Seung-chul and Psy may have to fulfill their pledge of running up Mount Cheonggye with their tops off as they vowed to do if more than two million people applied.
