Singapore, 19 August 2011 - The wildly popular Sundown Festival is back again for its third year running. The festival has featured some of the most sought-after solo artistes and groups from Japan and Korea, and this year adds music powerhouse Taiwan to its roster.
The spotlight this year focuses on Taiwan’s Mandopop, showcasing popular solo acts from Mandopop superstar Show Luo, Hebe Tien (from S.H.E) and a crowd favourite Zhang Yun Jing, the winner of Super Idol 1st season in 2008 who later rose to clinch several “New Comer of the Year” and Female Artiste awards across China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore.
To top off the star lineup, “visual-kei” Jrock band ViViD and newest Kpop boy band
sensation Teen Top promise to keep the audience on their feet with outlandish theatrics,
slick choreography and fantastic showmanship throughout the entire evening.
Organised by Red Spade Entertainment, Sundown Festival 2011 is set to rock a 7,000
strong audience on 26 November, 5.30pm at the F1 Pit Area. Fans can look forward to an
evening non-stop entertainment and adrenaline-pumping tunes in this rain-or-shine event,
which will also include fringe performances and authentic street food.
Sundown Festival is a unique entertainment concept that aims to showcase the best of
Asia’s talent and diversity in music, musicians, culture and people. As Festival Director
(Programming) Samantha Chan explains, “Through Sundown Festival, we hope to bring
about a sense of unity and pride of being Asian, using the Festival as a platform to support
Asian music and musicians, and to cultivate interest and appreciation of Asian music and
cultures among Festival supporters across the region.”
To complete the experience of an Asian festival, fans can roam the food streets within the
Festival venue, with food stalls serving up a dazzlingly variety of delicious authentic street
food from Taiwan, Korea and Japan. A definite palate pleaser for Festival goers would be
the very affordable prices that the food is sold at.
“Sundown Festival for the past two years has proved to be a great success that generated
fantastic turnout, and we hope to continue uniting Asia through its music, and in turn position
Singapore as an Asian music and cultural hub. In doing so, we aim to expand our repertoire
and garner wider outreach to the region as the Festival grows,” said Kelvin Goh, Director
