[NEWS] Lily Allen’s Record Label, In the Name of, Reports on 2NE1′s “I Love You”!

K-pop superstars and MTV Iggy’s 2011 ‘Best New Band In The World’ 2NE1 debuted their latest single, ‘I Love You’ last week. For those unfamiliar with their work, 2NE1 (pronounced ‘to anyone’ or simply ‘twenty one’) are a four-piece South Korean girl band responsible for some of K-pop’s most memorable and archetypal hits (K-pop refers to the genre of sugary, hook-heavy Korean electronic pop/dance/R&B music, sung mainly in Korean but often featuring American English phrases thrown in for good measure).

Based mainly on only two chords, ‘I Love You’ is a dreamy, colourful and succinct pop gem – the cheesy opening monologue only adds to the song’s kitsch amazingness. The closing 35 seconds in particular are sheer pop brilliance, and somehow bring the entire song together, shining a whole new light on subsequent listens.
Take note, songwriters: THIS is how you write a bridge. Enjoy.
