[news] Singer Jay Park shows support for Korean team in Guangzhou Asian Para Games

Singer Jay Park on Wednesday showed his support for the Korean team departing for China's 2010 Guangzhou Asian Para Games in China.

According to a press release by his agency Sidus HQ, Park, a promotional ambassador for the Korea Sports Association for the Disabled (KOSAD), met with Korea's national team at Incheon International Airport as soon as he arrived home from his Asia tour to countries including Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

He exchanged words of encouragement with the team’s leader Jang Chun-bae as well as the rest of the team leaving for the games taking place for a week starting December 12.

“The way Park asked each member to do their best and rooted for them helped heighten the team’s morale,” KOSAD was quoted as saying in the press release, adding that Park is well loved by disabled sports people for actively taking part in various charity work and other activities as PR ambassador.

Park will continue to show his support for the national team by donating part of the profits he makes from i-Phone 4 cases for which he modeled.

Park, whose Korean name is Park Jae-beom, was a former leader of the popular boy band 2PM which debuted in 2008 with the single “Hottest Time Of The Day” but split from the group last year after stirring controversy over remarks he wrote regarding Korea during his period as a trainee.

Park kicked off a solo career this year after signing with major talenthouse SidusHQ, releasing several single albums since.
