[Announcement] Kim Jaeuck (JaeWook) Makes His Music Dream Come True!Join him in his Hong Kong Fan Meeting!

We know Kim Jaeuck (Kim Jaewook) as he is doing really well in his modeling works, representing numerous prestigious brands including SK Telecom, Santa Fe coffee, HSBC, CASS beer, Sky Life, Levi’s, Sports Replay, Worldcon. In 2009, he was awarded the “Special Model Award in the 2008 Asia Model Festival Awards” to recognize his achievements in this discipline. His talent is not only limited to modeling, but also as an actor! His starring in “Antique Bakery” as the demonic charming gay patisserie “Min Seon Woo”, the pretty waffles boy “No Sun Ki” in “Coffee Prince”, a handsome, rich but wild guy “Hong Tae Sung” in “Bad Guy” and Mr Perfect “Jung In” in “Mary Stayed Out All Night” impressed audience around Asia!

However, being a model and an actor is not the ultimate goal of Jaeuck! In January 24, Jaeuck launched his first single album in the name of an indie rock band “walrus” formed by three university classmates.

It takes Jaeuck almost 10 years to make his music dream come true!

Jaeuck is graduated from Seoul Institute of the Arts as a music major. He formed an indie band with his classmates called “I Am the Walrus” which is come from the song name of Beatles. The band members are Jaeuck on vocals and guitar, his 3 university mates Kim Tae Hyun on drums, Yoo Seung Bum on lead guitar and Yang Shi On on Bass. They have been performing on and off together for upwards of nine years, and performed at Grand Mint Festival in 2009. Jaeuck never gives up pursuing his music dream. He keeps on composing songs no matter how busy his modeling and acting jobs are. He finally realized his music dream this year and released their first self-titled album “WALRUS” with all songs produced by themselves in February 2011. Jaeuck and the walrus members go through everything themselves from lyrics writing to anything. They use English to write lyrics for the first album as they want to spread it out to more people around the world!

The album consists of 3 songs: “To Be,” “Mozaic,” and the title track “Seoul Witch”.

Interesting enough to know is Jaeuck is grown up in a “music” family! His parents and older brother are all music lovers, especially his father listened to the songs and music of The Beatles and The Carpenters every morning. His older brother was a bassist in a band at high school. So eventually he became spellbound by the rock genre.

Jaeuck has been influenced by some other bands like Nirvana “In Utero”, this is the reason why he came to think that he wants to do music because he believes that Kurt Cobain, who has now become sort of a symbol, has changed the lives of many people through his accomplishments and energy. Oasis “(What’s The Story) Morning glory”, he thought this is the album that he want to call perfect because of their unaffected playing and singing, as well as the lyrics to their songs that speak for the young people of those times, that is how much he likes Oasis. Then Lali Puna “Faking The Books”, this is a band made by a Korean native names Valerie Trebeliahr, adopted into a German family when she was one year old. There is a unique sentimentality about her music which reflects the special environment she was raised in, he thought that her music is like jewels. And recently he came across the album “Try! John Mayer Trio Live in Concert” and by chance fell in love with the song “Wait Until Tomorrow”. He thought their free performances touches him even more because this is a live album.

When Jaeuck was a high school student, he was auditioned at the MBC TV show "Akdong Club" which was a reality show to depict the making of an idol group. The host of the show Lee Hwi-Jae asked Jaeuck if he preferred to dance and sing in an idol group rather than rock music style, he said nothing and gave up the audition without hesitation immediately. We can see how passionate, devoted and persistent Jaeuck is to music!

Jaeuck & walrus had successfully finished their First Live Concert at Hongdae on March 12. Their 1st Live Concert received overwhelming response and Jaeuck as well as his walrus members rocked everyone attended the event! What’s more, Jaeuck showed people “Hot” and “Wild” sides of himself, driving his fans crazy, screaming and yelling throughout the concert!

Fans in Asia are absolutely lucky as they will be able to see the “Hot” and “Rock” performance of Jaeuck and walrus in Hong Kong soon! He will be coming to Hong Kong with his rock band walrus for his first time to meet with fans around Asia on Apr 2, 2011. His first fan meeting will be held at 7pm in Rotunda 3 of Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Centre. Can’t wait to see the new ROCKER look of Jaeuck and his “Hot” performance on stage!
